Malamar Topsy-turvy

Hi everyone,
So I'm building a new team and I want to use a malamar with infernape but I'm not sure what set to run, I was thinking that instead of the role play with infernape that I could do Topsy-turvy then simple beam to gain +2 defences each turn but Topsy-turvy fails if it's on an ally Pokemon, does anyone have any ideas or ways round this?

For Malamar, run the classic Contrary set. I've tested it out and it has never failed me.

Malamar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Foul Play
- Psycho Cut
- Knock Off
