This was stated in the Moive "Pokemon Rangers Temple of the Sea"

If this is so then why isn't Manaphy a male?

I just been wondering this for awhile.
If any of you know why. Please tell me because I'm stumped to as why Manaphy isn't a male.

Manaphy is considered genderless? I haven't a clue why they referred to Manaphy as that?

    - A guy who has royal descendants is called a prince.
    - A girl who has royal descendants is called a princes.
But how do you call an suppose to be genderless "it" who has royal descendants?

The story writers must have encountered the same problem and simply picked "prince" as the most suitable way to address Manaphy.

yeah... if it's genderless, how the heck was it able to hatch from an egg? I mean, most genderless creatures "clone" themselves to reproduce.

    Remember kids, Games ≠ Anime.

Manaphy probably is male. But just like a few other Pokemon like Jigglypuff, all of them may appear feminine, but some really aren't.

Exactly. The only reason they chose prince would be because they [the dubbers] are targeting boys rather than girls. That's why the movies usually have action-y titles.
