Does anyone here know how to dodge a Spiny Shell?

Yeah I can dodge spiny/blue shells by power sliding, not all of the time though. I discovered it by fluke about 2 weeks ago, then just started practising the timing.
 
is the timing when you release the power slide or when you start? i haven't been able to perform this stunt.
 
I dont know how to escape from a blue shell. I dont care about them when im racing. If you have a really good distance between the other racers, it dosent matter, yeah it will slow you down for a few seconds.
 
It seriously doesn't effect me at all. i'm so far i front most of the time that it's not even funny. i have a little math for you: blue shell + high acceleration kart = delay of less than 3 seconds.
 
There are several ways to evade a blue shell. When someone has a blue shell and can fire it anytime let another racer close behind you lead so when the shell is fired it will go after the one who was holding first rank when it was launched while you quickly take lead again and the other one gets hit. Another way to evade a blue shell is by activating a Ghost item. It will smash in you, but you won't be affected. Third one is that sliding trick MUSION mentioned but I you'll need to practise lots to master it.

Also, what you guys think about it if we're gonna make a FAQ on MKDS together?

And the FAQ together sounds pretty good. i would help, is what i'm saying.

When you release.

I thought that the blue shell goes after the person in first place when it is launched. so you could be in first and get hit fall to second and then still get hit by a blue shell. but apparently i'm wrong.

Blue Shells will home in on the player that was in first place when it was launched.
 
A Blue shell goes after the player who was at first place when it was launched. Thus, when you see someone has a blue shell let the second player lead so at the moment it's launched it will go after that player.

And thanks you guys wanna help on making a FAQ for MKDS, I'm sure it'll turn out well ^^ May we should add each other to MSN/AIM or whatever instant messenger you're using so we can keep in touch easily.

As for the FAQ, I'll cover anything balloon battle related and maybe some normal.
 
I would do the msn thing but i don't have it on my computer and can't get it on my computer because i have linux and apparently it can't work like that(GGRRR! i hate windows and all it's "for windows only" *insert alternate word for poop*) so you guys might have to pm me.

First i have to say: This game rocks!
I'v beaten some of the staff ghosts.
I love this game :)
 
Ow that was a bit harsh. you're going to scare them off, jeez. j/k

beating the staff ghosts aren't that hard except for some of the retro stages, those were harder than the others.
 
So Lunux, you beat all the Staff Ghosts?
I did, but I still don't get the star system. Do you have to beat all the staff ghosts? Do you have to get 3 stars in all cups in Grand Prix? I happen to be a 3 star, but I don't know how.
 
What do you mean the star system? I ahven't beat all of the staff ghosts or gotten triple star in all the cups but i don't feel like beating all the staff ghosts(though i can) so i don't really know what you're talking about sorry. though i am interested in what it is so i might work on it.

A question to everyone: what kart and character combinations do you use? just curious, i use Toad and the egg 1.
 
Everyone uses Toad in the Yoshi egg.
Wanna guess what I use? It's Yoshi in the Yoshi egg!!!

The star system is when you go Wi-Fi, it's the number of stars on the top of your name. You can check by going to your records on the main menu.
 
Oh ok. i don't care about that, as long as i know i'm good then that's all i need.
Yes everyone uses either the egg or the dry bomber but on occasion i use the Zipper. not that good but gives me a challenge for once.
 
I also like using Bowser in the Tyrant because you can "Mushroom"* people easily. And it also gives me a challenge, like you said, Lunux.

*Mushroom-the term I use when you bump people(usually with a Mushroom) into the grass, a wall, or out of the park!
