    --------------------------------
    -------27TH June 2006-------
    --------------------------------
Today is the first release of Pokémon Master series. First set in this series is called «Master: Origins». The set will after all have 60 cards (including 3 ex cards, 1 shining, 1 boxtopper and 1 reward card).

3 Kanto starters are today released in their ex non-holofoil versions. Notice that normal Pokémon alphabet rule will not be applied in Master series. Although these ex's couldn't present that, «Master» edition will bring some brand new tricks into Pokémon game. That includes 2 new Special Conditions, new type of Trainer cards, Reward cards (similar to «winner» cards; nothing special) and probably a new type of Pokémon: Master. Since it is not completely sure how Master Pokémon will work in the game, it will remain unsaid until it is completely sure.

The procedure of creating the illustrations (for ex cards) includes taking snapshots from Pokémon anime series, drawing the lines over the original as new layer and repainting within the lines all over again. The backgrounds are taken from deviantART with some effects added. Since it was too long to write all that in illustrations, and I spent a lot of time doing these, I took the credit for the pictures (well, not me actually. I'm not Sherry).

«Master: Origins» are expected to be released in late July \ early August. Before that happens, spoilers of the set will be released. And this is the structure of each set that will be released in Master series:

    6 Holo Rare Pokémon
    6 Rare Pokémon
    12 Uncommon Pokémon
    18 Common Pokémon
    12 Trainer Cards
    3 ex Pokémon
    1 shining Pokémon
    1 boxtopper Pokémon
    1 reward Pokémon
    -----------------------------
    TOTAL: 60 cards

All this with the possibility of parallel set of Master Pokémon. Also, it is not certain if foil cards will be made at all (since I dislike foil cards)

    ...

Also, I would appreciate any help with pointing out the mistakes. My weakness is english grammar, official Poké-language (although I do try) and balancing the attacks\powers etc. Placings should be right (although not completely according to Fangking's tutorial).

And please, also be aware that these cards are not supposed to be combined with the original Pokémon cards. There are too many of them, so I couldn't watch if there is some combination fake+original that would be totally broken.

Also, I'm a very hard-working person, so be sure that when I get involved into something, I'll get it done. I don't like unfinished projects.

As said elsewhere, I think these are very good card, though the fonts seem wrong. Otherwise, yes, very good. I especially like your attacks and the illustrations. 8/10.

Awesome cards, I like what you done to the snapshots, especially on Venusaur!!

The fonts and the wording are your biggest problem but, even if you don't get then better, you'll get a very good set if you progress like this!!

    8/10

i rly don't understand what you think is wrong with fonts.
    fonts are downloaded from pokemonpalace,
    and I've followed Fanking's tutorial.

Maybe you guys think it's weird because it's 10pt size,

but if someone sees what the real problem is (what am I doing wrong),
then I will change it asap.
    but, otherwise, I cannot improve.:(

    Do you use Adobe Photoshop?

It's only the HP font, and the font for attack description. Everything else is fine, it's just those that look a bit odd. Nothing serious.

I think the problem with the HP is it's Gill Sans. Or so I think, but that doesn't look like Futura to me...

And the attacks just have a slight sizing problem, methinks.

    Adobe Photoshop CS2.

HP is Futura LT Medium\Bold (size 19)
I'm just looking at it in Photoshop.
I don't think he would lie to me.

cause I would really like to fix whatever is wrong before I go on.

    Sorry, can you specify who?

If that HP is Futura, there are some sizing issues to be dealt with...it's, how can I put it, vertically challenged. :P It should be longer height-wise.

i was refering to the computer :embarrass

i have just realized there's some option:
    (anti-aliasing method)
None, Sharp, Crisp, Strong and Smooth
I was using Sharp as default (I dunno why)

do you guys use some other option?
it's right next to size option in Adobe.

Um...what do I use...I think I used Smooth the one time I used Photoshop. Though it might have been none. Just have a play-around with them all and see which looks best. :) The thing with fake card is, they don't have to be exact. Your cards as they are, are all great.

Set it to none, caue sharp is just strange...

Also, have you followed the tutorial by the letter??

Try to download the symbolsheet form PPN.

I've switched from Sharp to Smooth (None was too weird).
    HP looks right now,
but the attack description look kinda strange to me.
(I couldn't find any fake card with that small words to compare)
    - although it does look similar to Scizor ex from UF.

I was following Fanking tutorial from word to word in this part (HP, text effect)

Please, look at Venusaur ex (in the thread description).
I did that changes only on Venu and I'll apply it on the others after. (if they are correct)

No HP issues on your Venusaur, certainly. It's the right font on the others too, I just daresay it's the edge smoothing effects you've used. I always try Crisp.

Attack descriptions are strange looking because they're too small in font size. Sure it's necessary, but it starts to look awkward when they're too small. Correct fonts, however.

Otherwise, I'm pretty content with that. I like it, cool illustrations! It's a shame you're using Pokebeach's EX blanks, I've never liked what WaterPokemonMaster did to them, PPN's (and my personal released editions) look more realistic. But that's a little niggle of mine.

Great work on the cards, keep it up and I can't wait to see more :D Just try and watch how small you go on your attack effects, and if possible avoid going smaller than you really need to. Good luck with this, you're a very adept faker. :)

What do you mean they aren't realistic? They use actual EX borders. The other blanks have simulated, CG generated borders. :p

    @Fangking Omega
Great. Thanks for the help. I'm glad we figured out the problem.
Crisp and Smooth are almost identical (exact same size; but one is 1 pixel above the other), so I'll stick with Smooth.

Small fonts look strange, I agree- but what can I do? I love Pokémon with many attacks\powers with long effects text. :classic:

regarding blanks- that was the part which I didn't much think of. I have both blanks, didn't compare them really. I thought all of them are the same.

thanx for the compliments. i'll do my best to finish this set.

    @QFred
Yup, it should say that also, but I couldn't squeeze in any more text. :( I don't know what to throw out.

PS: all three cards are edited now. yay!
if you come across any more errors, please let me know.

Wow... that's so cool I've changed the sentence I usually use for describing good cards.

Oddly though, the EX borders you scanned look a lot darker than the ones that I own - they're a sorta silvery blue, but yours look really dark. I believe that's because the light of the scanner reflects off them badly, seeing as I've never managed to get a scanned holofoil card to look great. So my borders use the colours from real cards with my PSD holosheet effects for consistency and to get the actual real life colours that the scanner compromises. Just my opinion though :-p

Back to Lunanai's set! I see what you mean about long effects and stuff, it definitely adds more room for creativity. It's just, too much and you get a strange appearance! But it's still the correct font, so I guess I can't criticise :-p oh the irony.

    Looking forward to more cards!
