Preface: Please move this to an appropriate forum if this is the incorrect spot to ask this question. Thank you!

Now, to get right into it.

I'm shiny hunting via the MM right now and I was looking on Bulbapedia and it said this about MM:
The Masuda method involves breeding two Pokémon created in games of different languages. An Egg resulting from such a pairing will have a higher likelihood of being Shiny. The most common way to arrange such a pairing is to use one foreign Pokémon and one from the game in which the breeding occurs, although the method will work in any game provided at least one of the Pokémon in the pair is from a language different to the language of the game cartridge.
If both Pokémon are foreign to the cartridge but are both of the same language, then the Masuda method will not take effect.

So here's my question. Right now in the Day Care by Battle Resort, I have a Ditto from a friend in Australia I traded with/from and their game was in English. I'm in the US so my game was in English also, and in that region. I thought it would work if it was just a different country, but I may be wrong.

I am trying to MM for a shiny Mudkip by placing my Swampert there along with the Ditto I got from my Aussie friend. I know that some foreign Pokemon will have 'region labels' or whatever they are called on their summaries when you look at them in your PC Boxes. But Ditto didnt have a label that said AUS on it. So does this mean that the MM will not take effect and I'm wasting my time? Or will it still work?

I transferred Pokemon from Black 2 to Y and so they didn't have the pentagon by them but were still both english and I thought maybe it would still work for MM.

But I don't think it does, I think it only works if the 2 Pokemon have diiferent language signs next to their name. English Pokemon have blank spaces in English games. I don't know if English pokemon have [Eng] next to their names on Japanese games or if all English Pokemon have blanks next to their names no matter the location. It seems like a Pokemon would have a blank next to their name on their games language origin and then would gain a language icon upon entering a new game with a different language.

Anyways since Australia speaks English I'd say it doesn't work. Only Japan, Spain, France, Germany, Korea and maybe Italy are the only language options?

So what does that mean exactly? That even though the Ditto was Australian that MM wont take effect? That's unfortunate. So I'd have to hunt for a foreign Pokemon in the Mudkip line then... ugh, as if thats not hard enough already.

If you were to make it too the quick trades thread, currently there is a JPN ditto giveaway going on it may be of some help for you!
