Recently I have been quite interested in developing a good Medieval MMORPG. The only question that has currently got me stumped is what should a good Medieval MMO include? Now I want to know what you all think it should include.

We want to keep this in the realm of Reality Ie. if it can't happen on earth then keep it to yourself ie. Don't suggest magic or steam-punk, and this is a Medieval mmo so no guns or modern weapons (unless you can find documentary that they where being used) and for a good idea of what timeline you are looking at we are talking dark ages Swords and Bows.

Any Ideas are welcome as long as they follow the rules above.

    Who is "we"?
Also, good luck paying for the servers! Seriously.. this isn't a good idea unless you want to spend tons of money.

Are you going for historical accuracy or simply believability? If it's the latter, then I recommend reading some Dungeons and Dragons sourcebooks and cutting out the magical aspects and sticking to the more mundane equipment.

I am thinking of a non historical based game I mean there is no point in making a MMORPG if it has to be right on the line of historicalness that beast the point of a RPG. Currently I have been thinking of taking snip bits of historical stuff to help get an idea of what it would look like. For the first City I was thinking of a Camelot layout you know on a hill towering down with a castle in the center kind of area, but this is besides the point. What I am wanting to know is what would you think be good stuff to put in it?

My comment shouldn't be ignored, please, figure out the financial issue FIRST.

Lols I am not worried about the financial issue it is called you start small and then go bigger, ie. you start with a smaller server that runs 400-1K (I know this may not be realistic but I am estimating) buy a website to host it on and more than likely by the time the game is even ready to be released I would have enough money saved up to buy a decent server to start the game up, and if all worse I do what DDO did and have a monthly fee to start playing for the first 6 months - 1 year so that I could buy a server/s that could hold the ammount of people I would need to keep it self sufficient.

A very accurate physics based projectile system. Including wind, Kinetic/Potential energy.

Thank you both. I will consider these (I was already thinking about the physics and debating on what the best program would be to make a game like this in :) )
