Fleeing through a narrow alley, Rian paused mid-step as he noticed an item lying on a wooden crate. I hope no one needs this . . . The youth picked up the steel crowbar, again resuming his run as the Spikey's teeth snapped a few inches from his heel.
His amber eyes darting about, Rian continued to race down the street. Come on . . . there! Finding that which he sought, the male suddenly whirled on the his pursuer. The Spikey snarled as it leaped at him, only to be met with a thrown crowbar. Swiftly turning, Rian pressed a button on his PET. Immediately a blue laser was projected from it--meeting with a port into the internet. Without Idzuna here, I'll have to do this manually . . . The net operator began to activate a number of functions on his PET. Meanwhile, the further infuriated Spikey shook its throbbing head.
Rian glanced toward the Spikey as his moved his index finger across the PET screen. Come on . . .almost . . . The virus growled as its body was surrounded by flames. Crouching low, it prepared itself to strike.
Got it! As the Spikey leaped toward Rian, a sudden torrent of water burst from a wall, striking the fiery virus and deleting it. Gasping slowly for breath, Rian again touched the screen of his PET. The water flow ceased.
Approaching and again taking ahold of the fallen metal bar, the net operator moved the back of his hand across his damp forehead. Rehooking the PET to his belt, he glanced toward the water's source. I was originally hoping for a fire hydrant . . . but, I suppose a flower shop works just as well.
As he released a sigh, Rian started cautiously down the street.
