Mercenaries
Note: This RP is non-canon. Extremely so.
Apparently, a long time ago, there were people called 'Trainers'. The searched the land, sea and sky for Pokémon, befriended them and used them to fight. Some people abused these privileges, but there were always those selfless individuals who would do anything to stop them. To do what was right.
How times change.
Since the Capture Rights Act, stating that only one Pokémon may be 'trained' by each person, the banning of Pokéballs and the abolishment of the Pokémon League, criminals have been spreading discord and chaos throughout the known world. But, like in times gone by, there are those who are out to stop these criminals. Unlike the olden days, these people do not operate out of the goodness of their hearts. They are mercenaries. Bounty hunters. And they operate for a price.
You are one of these people. With a history of expertise in your own specialist field, whether it be assassination or music, have been contacted by a man calling himself The Commander. He is assembling a new team of mercenaries, out of the best warriors money can buy. And he is paying handsomely. You, along with six others, have been summoned to Oreburgh City, where your HQ will be located. From here, the citizens of Sinnoh, and indeed the world, will send you their requests. Something that has been stolen, someone who needs to be taught a lesson… or worse.
You decide to accept these terms, and head to Oreburgh. What you don't realise is that all the other members of what will soon be your team are like you in another way.
They are all Fusers.
Fusers are people with an innate ability to transfer energy, and some characteristics, between themselves and a Pokémon they have a close bond with. In this day and age, with many species of Pokémon having achieved near-sentience, the Fuser and the Pokémon can maintain a strong psychic connection, allowing the transferral of thoughts. Many Fusers have odd abilities, although very few look any different to normal humans. However, it is possible to reach a state of complete psychic connection for a brief period, drawing the Pokémon's physical being inside oneself and merging two consciousnesses, resulting in amazing 'powers' that can be used, and controlled, by the human. However, this ability has earned it's name 'Last Stand'; it drains the human emotionally and physically, leaving them unconscious, or in some cases, dead.
How it works:
After everyone's begun properly, I'll start posting missions The Commander has picked up. You may choose missions to go on, as a team, a small group or solo. Use the OOC thread to confer, or whatever suits you (since the OOC thread isn't up yet...) These missions will be self-explanatory, and will lead to different parts of the storyline.
Please note: You may receive IC PMs, signing up means you accept and acknowledge this.
Some things have changed in the world of Pokémon. (I am using Serebii's Pokéarth map.)
Environmental:
A horrific nuclear accident some years ago has left Orre, Almia, and some of Northern Johto uninhabitable.
Humans finally started wising up about climate change, however they were far too late. The north is much colder, the south is much hotter, and many western areas are prone to earthquakes.
Sinnoh, as one of the only regions still inhabitable, is overpopulated, particularly in the east. Sunyshore City spreads out over the sea, Mt Coronet has been habituated, and the Battle Frontier is a popular tourist destination.
Events:
The Oreburgh mine was abandoned nearly 60 years ago.
The Underground in Sinnoh spread across the globe, however has mostly collapsed and has earnt a new name: The Catacombs.
The Sevii islands sunk under the sea nearly five centuries ago due to a battle between Kyogre and Groudon. Millions died.
Rules:
I know, they're annoying sometimes. But they're necessarily annoying.
1. No spam. Duh.
2. No Godmodding/Bunnying/etc.
3. Please inform me if you will be inactive for a sustained period of time.
4. I am GM! What I say goes.
5. No introducing key-character NPCs. PM me if you wish to do this, I may be able to make allowances.
6. I will say if a character is free-for-all, but apart from this, I control all NPCs.
7. An SU means a commitment. Don't flake out later.
8. The IC thread is IC only. The OOC thread is OOC only. Simple as.

Story for the Other Team
Another mercenary has begun recruiting. Based in Twinleaf Town, The Saviour believes he has uncovered a plot that could threaten mankind, Pokemonkind, and all existence. A new, nameless group has mysteriously sprung up overnight, causing chaos across the world. But at the same time, another group, even more shrouded in mystery, is trying to stop them. What is their plan? Who are they? And what will happen if they succeed?
The Saviour, as a mercenary of considerable skill himself, he has settled down to act as a leader for a new team he calls "The Salvation". You have been contacted by him, and asked to meet him at his HQ. He, too, is paying handsomely.
