I am a Gen III fan in my heart and i love everything about those games. So I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when I did my first play-through of Black 2 and saw a damn Metang in the wild... I still haven't decided if i like this or not. For one, Metagross is my all-time favourite Steel type Pokemon and i loved being able to play through with it... BUT in Gen III Beldum, Metang and Metagross had an almost legendary status and you could only get 1 in the game. Now that they've added an infinite number into the game i feel like Metagross has lost some of it's appeal.

    Thoughts?

I'm gunna let this slide but change this up a bit.

Metagross wasn't the only Pokemon to get this benefit. Eevee who was fairly much a hand out exclusive in every generation was also made vastly available in Gen 5. 5.5 to be more specific seeing as Metang/Metagross are in Pokemon Black and White while Eevee is wild in B2/W2 only.

I believe there are others like this, so a slight altering of the main question:

How do you feel about the "One of a kinds" from the past generation being available to catch in the wild in Gen 5?

Personally, I liked it. I liked the fact that they were catchable in the wild. I'd mass breed them in the older games so their near legend status never existed for me and with them being catchable, I had to breed less Eevee since I could simply catch them.

Frankly doesnt bother me one bit. Think that gives more people chances to use it and kind of levels the playing field for many trainers

I actually liked this change, because I know how popular Eevee is with fans and having only one available in the game without breeding or trading made it hard to decide which Eeveelution to evolve it into.

I loved the fact I could now get all the Eeveelutions easily by just catching the Eevee rather than breeding it which I had to do in previous games, and that was a pain to do.

To be honest, I was a bit surprised too, but in a good way. I was happy when I seen that both Metang and Metagross could be caught in the wild. Although, I wanted to use it early in the game, I would have been more happy if Beldum was available a little earlier. On my White 2 I made an Egg of Beldum then transferred it over to my Black 2 to use right from the start. In my opinion, it doesn't lose value, because eventually it's going to become more exclusive in different games. Think about Eevee and Chansey. Chansey was a bit hard to get, but once we got Happiny we get an Egg of it pretty often. :)

I actually welcomed the addition of certain previously one of a kind Pokemon now being available in the wild, since I've never been that big on breeding Pokemon. One of those that was available very early in B/W2 was Riolu, who was only available as a gift in D/P/Pt, and in HG/SS's Safari Zone under highly specific circumstances. I personally loved having Riolu (and later Lucario) as one of the main members of my team, whereas I never really had the chance to train one until I was already in the late stages of the game.

And as for Beldum/Metang being available in the wild, I had no real problem with it, since all the other pseudo-legendaries' prevolutions were available to catch, so it made perfect sense to add them.

I don't really like it that much. I would prefer it if rare pokemon stayed rare. It's not a deal breaker for me, but it is a little irritating. I'm am a bit surprised to see the positive view points on this though =o

I loved it! It made getting certain natures easier, and you could actually catch/get one with at least decent IV's. I especially like this in the case of Eevee, i loved being able to get both Jolteon and Umbreon without having to trade :)
