Anyone here a fan of the Metroid series? If so, which ones?

Probably not many people. In my eyes, Metroid is the greatest game series to grace the face of planet Earth...it's just so horribly underrated and sits in the extra dark shadows of other gaming series, such as Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, and the like.

Anyway, may I start us off with a few bolded topics to answer to? You may answer some, all, or none, your choice.

What is your favorite Metroid game?

That's a tough one for me. I liked all of them. Though if I had to pick, it would either be Zero Mission (for massive possibilities in sequence breaking), Super (for a lot of things...too many to list), Fusion (for plot), or Prime (see Super).

How many Metroid games do you own?

I own all of them. except Fusion, which I borrowed from a friend. (bought Fusion about a week and a half ago)

    What is your favorite track(s)?

SR388 Main Tunnel, Brinstar Construction/Torvus Bog Industrial section, Phendrana Drifts, Sector 4 depths (the music in the area of AQA you enter after Nightmare), and Hive Mecha theme. (first miniboss in Prime that gives you your missiles back)

What are your best times for any Metroid game?

    Metroid: Under half an hour
Zero Mission: Fourty-five minutes with 32% item collection
    Prime: Nine hours
    Hunters: About seven hours
    Prime 2: Eleven hours
Prime 3: About six hours, thanks to Elysia (longest darn planet in the game)
Metroid II: One hour, thirty minutes
Super Metroid: One hour, fourty-six minutes
    Fusion: One hour, thirty-eight minutes

    Do you ever sequence break?

Yes, I do. Sometimes. Zero Mission has many sequence breaking possibilities, such as that I always get Hi-Jump and Varia Suit directly after Ice Beam, I skip Wave Beam and Screw Attack, and Speed Booster is always my last item besides Power Bombs. In Super Metroid, I always get Spazer and Spring Ball early, and thanks to Zyborggian, I can now easily mockball and get Super Missiles early to skip a boss and save time. I have yet to do so. Fusion has no true sequence breaking besides early Missile Expansions and E-Tanks as well as a few possibilities for early Power Bombs before you're assigned to get them. Haven't done this yet, but I may if I ever pick up Fusion again.

    What is your favorite boss?

Quadraxis. I don't care what anyone says, Quaddy is the BEST boss in all of video gaming history.

Also: Nightmare (Fusion), Phantoon (Super), Meta Ridley (Prime), Super Metroid's final boss (no spoilers), and a few others.

    So yeah.

Here are a few boss guides yours truly wrote to help those in need.

    Metroid Boss Guide

    First Boss: Kraid
    Location: Miniboss Hideout I
    Branches from: Brinstar
Bio: Kraid can be considered the hardest boss in the game. He doesn't cause as much frustration as the Metroids in Tourian or the bosses in Prime 2, but still. When you enter the room, there is no cutscene or anything. (what would you expect from an NES game?) The Tourian music starts playing in place of Kraid's theme, and Kraid starts firing spikes and bullets at you mercilessly. He is as big as you in this game. He also has two acid pits surrounding him, meaning that if you just sit still for too long, you'll be shot into the pits, having a time in hell trying to get out. If you have the Ice Beam, you can freeze Kraid for a very short period of time. The main thing is, his stomach spikes can't be penetrated by any of your weapons. So, when he readies his stomach spike missiles, you'll have to find a way to work around to his back without getting severely damaged by his other spikes, which will shoot you backwards slightly on contact. Hell, even with the NARPAS SWORD cheat set to on, it will take you a while to finish the fight.
Good luck, to those of you speed-running or playing for the first time.
After Kraid is defeated, the possibly hardest room in the game follows shortly after, so be prepared.

    Samus fights Kraid.

    Second Boss: Ridley
    Location: Miniboss Hideout II
    Branches from: Norfair
Bio: Ridley is the easiest boss in the game. He simply jumps up and down, shooting a wall of fireballs at you. The fireballs can be frozen, and seemingly can only be busted by missiles. If you can manage to freeze him, whoopdy-friggin'-doo for you. That means no more fireballs for a short period of time, and just slam him with a few missiles. Repeat, and he will soon die.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

    Samus fights Ridley.

    Third Boss: Mother Brain
    Location: Tourian
    Branches from: Brinstar
Bio: In order to get to Tourian, you need to have Ridley and Kraid both defeated.
Mother Brain isn't tough by itself. It just sits there. The real hazard is the lava pit below and the life support systems that attempt to murder Samus while you're trying to murder the brain. Mother Brain is surrounded by a glass stasis tank. You bust the tank open with missiles. Mother Brain can also only be damaged by missiles. The life support systems go out of their way to knock you into the lava. If you're knocked into the lava, it'll be extreme hell to get back up. And with the awkward jumping capabilities this game sports, this boss could very well be close second to the difficulty Kraid has.
After Mother Brain is defeated, you have to escape Tourian via the back route revealed after Mother Brain's death. If you don't escape in time, you're screwed.

Zero Mission Boss Guide - SPOILER WARNING

    Thorn Worm
    Location: Brinstar
    Prize: Charge Beam
Bio: The Thorn Worm makes a random appearance. After you get your first missiles, you must backtrack. In the same room, the worm pops out of the rock and attacks. When you first entered the room, the area the worm pops out from is quaking with rubble falling. To defeat the worm, you must fire into its eye with a missile. It shoots thorns at you and rams you as an attack. After three direct hits, it gives you the Charge Beam. However, if you aren't fast enough, the worm will leave, with no upgrade left behind. Don't get angry at yourself. The upgrade isn't required to beat the game, and even so, the worm comes back in that same spot later.

    Acid Worm

Location: Kraid's Lair (called Miniboss Hideout I in the original Metroid)
    Prize: Progression
Bio: This is a miniboss that which is somewhat easy to beat. It gives no prize other than passage to the deeper reaches of Kraid's Lair, and an optional opening to another Missile Expansion. The zip line you see on the ceiling plays a major role in this fight. When angered, the worm will gain the ability to stir the acid in the room, causing it to rise. Be careful when this happens. When you see the worm twitch its mandibles, quickly jump onto the zip line. It will take you to the other side. If you're fast enough, the worm will smash its head into the block on either side, and its teeth will be stuck, leaving it anchored for a short time. When this happens, stay on the opposite side, and shoot the little orange spots on either side of its neck. Rinse and repeat. Soon enough, the worm will die.

    Kraid
    Location: Kraid's Lair
    Prize: Speed Booster
Bio: Not near as hard as his original counterpart, but it still is somewhat annoying. The gameplay differs as well. Instead of shooting him until he dies, you must shoot at his third eye with a MISSILE. He will react by opening his mouth and roaring. Proceed to shoot missiles in his mouth. As attacks, he will swing at you with his claws, and shoot his spikes at you. Not as many spikes are used. His stomach spikes remain indestructible, but with Kraid's only weak spot being his throat this time around, it doesn't really matter. At first, there is a nice little platform for you to stand on. When Kraid gets angered, his stomach spikes will destroy the platform, and you will have to stand on his stomach spikes, which respectively get lodged into the wall, as a platform. Finish him off like that. The stomach spikes eventually disappear, and he will shoot more. Kraid is large in this game. Unlike in the original, there is no acid pits. The prize is the Speed Booster.

    Imago Pupa
    Location: Norfair
    Prize: Entrance to Ridley's Lair
Bio: Many accuse this monster of being the Spore Spawn from Super Metroid. It isn't. It is Imago's pupal stage. To defeat this creature, you must freeze the winged insect that's just innocently flying around, and use it as a platform to end the life of one of the infectious vines. There are about three or four vines on each side, and one indestructible vine in the middle. This means you must travel to both sides to end the vines' life. The flying insect goes to both sides, so don't worry. When all vines are gone, the last one isn't enough to hold the dying pupa in place. The pupa falls, and opens a path into Ridley's Lair. Other than this, there is no prize.

    Imago
Location: Ridley's Lair (called Miniboss Hideout II in the original Metroid)
    Prize: Super Missiles
Bio: Remember that pupa you busted from the vines? Yeah, guess what? You saved it. And now its adult form wants to kill you. Makes no sense whatsoever, but it's the truth. Imago is like a giant hornet, and it attacks by ramming into you and shooting stingers at you. Its only weak point is its stinger. Slam the stinger with missiles, and eventually it will lose its stinger. The hornet will then crash into the sludge(?) blocking an item. Now you can get the item. The item is a Super Missile.

    Ridley
    Location: Ridley's Lair
Prize: You get to keep the Unknown Item
Bio: Ridley is still fairly easy, but he goes absolutely insane this time around. Like his counterpart, you can end his life by hitting him with missiles practically anywhere, his tail being the exception. Ridley adds many new techniques to his arsenal of attacks, such as swinging his tail around, fireballs that can't be frozen, and grabbing Samus. Super Missiles work well in this fight. Like his original counterpart, there is lava surrounding the arena, so be careful. The prize is that you keep the Unknown Item #3 you got before the fight.

    Mother Brain
    Location: Tourian
    Prize: Escape and Progression
Bio: Much, much harder that its original counterpart. This Mother Brain can fight for itself. The fact that escaping from the lava is easier only makes up for the fact that there is more turrets and fireballs trying to kill you. Mother Brain's only weak spot is its eye. It can shoot telekinetic lasers from said eye. Its eye can close, leaving it invulnerable to all weapons fired. But Super Missiles finish the fight pretty easily. When Mother Brain is dead, the same "escape NOW!!!!1" shtick is administered, only it is easier to get outside to your ship.

    Chozo Spirit
    Location: Chozodia (Chozo Ruins sector)
Prize: Your entire suit plus the Unknown Items
Bio:After you defeat Mother Brain and escape in your ship, you take off your suit and become Zero Suit Samus. You shortly after get shot down by Space Pirates, and end up with no choice but to infiltrate the Space Pirate Mothership. Once you stealth past the Mothership (this is a stealth sequence because your Stun Pistol can only stun Pirates for a split second), you enter the Chozo Ruins. Space Pirates built a base here. Stealth through here, and you get to the Chozo Spirit. The Chozo Spirit tests you to see if you are one of its kind, to see if you are worthy of the legendary suit. Since you have Chozo blood and wore the suit before, you are, but you still have to take the test. The whole fight is shooting an emblem when the time is right. At first, the orb mirrors every move you make. Shooting it now would hurt yourself. When the orb makes an emblem, shoot it then. Four emblems shot will end the fight. The orb attacks by firing lightning at you.
The prize for this fight is your suit, plus the legendary upgrade. It gives you the sight of the more universally known Varia Suit. It also deciphers the three Unknown items you picked up on your journey in Zebes and enables you to use them. The three Unknown items are:
Plasma Beam - The final beam upgrade. This beam has every feature of previous beams, plus the ability to zip past multiple enemies.
Space Jump - This upgrade allows you to jump endlessly in mid-air.
Gravity Suit - This suit upgrade turns your final suit purple, and fixes all liquid hindrances. No liquid can slow you down anymore. It also halves the damage received by enemies, with makes the damage received by enemies only a fourth of what it would be originally since the Varia Suit also sports that feature. Also gives an immunity to lava. (the Varia Suit only gave an immunity to acid)

    Mecha Ridley
Location: Chozodia (Space Pirate Mothership sector)
    Prize: Escape then Credits
Bio: After you beat the Chozo Spirit, you can destroy multiple Space Pirates in the snap of a finger. After this, you go back to the Mothership, and get the Power Bomb. You then fight Mecha Ridley, the true final boss. Ridley constructed this mechanical version of himself as a backup in case he wasn't there. Mecha Ridley has many weapons in its arsenal, ranging from eye lasers to homing missiles. But it is very easy to beat. The screenshot below may tell you differently, but Mecha Ridley is ridiculously easy to be called a final boss. There is no fun in beating him. But still. All you do is slam the weak point under its neck with explosives, and soon, it will die. It takes maybe five Super Missiles to beat it. After you beat it, however, its body activates a self-destruct mechanism. You have only a few minutes to escape the ship. When you do, Samus flies off in a Space Pirate Stinger, and calls it a day for once.

Super Metroid Boss Guide - MAJOR SPOILER WARNING

    Ridley Battle 1
    Location: Ceres Space Colony
Prize: The ability to progress :P
Bio: Yes, Ridley is the first boss. You fight him on a far away space colony called Ceres. Samus dropped the last Metroid off here for the people to test on, but shortly after she left, a distress signal was sent out from it. Samus returned, and found dead and bleeding bodies on the floor. In the next room, she sees the Metroid larva in its case, then Ridley pops out of the darkness. Throughout the fight, he is holding the case with his foot. Basically, shoot him until he dies. His tail is his deadliest weapon, so be sure to avoid it. He doesn't go insane like when you fight him later, but he does float around in an annoying fashion. There is a glitch where you run to the far right corner of the room, crouch, and shoot straight like a madwoman. Ridley is defeated almost immediately into the fight with this method. Many speed-runners will use this.
After he took all he could, Ridley drops the case with the Metroid, and disappears into the background. He must damage a core reactor perhaps, as when he swoops back to snatch the Metroid, you have two minutes to escape the colony before it explodes. The colony is only about four or five small rooms, so this should be rather easy.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

    I'm attempting the glitch here.

    Torizo
    Location: Crateria
Prize: You get to keep the Morph Ball Bombs
Bio: The Torizo's are living Chozo statues created to protect the more sacred items of their race; the Bombs are apparently one of them. The Bombs are the very first item you should obtain in the game after Morph Ball and missiles. When you obtain them, you can be quick and dash and jump out the door before the fight takes place, or you can be a (wo)man and fight the thing. Truly, with what you have now, this thing can be a proven threat, so be careful. It can only be damaged on the chest and mouth. It attacks by swiping at you and throwing stuff. Eh...not much more about it.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

The Torizo will swing at Samus anytime; Samus is readying her weapon.

    Spore Spawn
    Location: Brinstar Vegetation
    Prize: Super Missiles
Bio: This boss is very easy, but can be a pain when the battle heats up. Basically, the Spore Spawn swings its large head around in a fixed pattern, connected to a thick, throny vine, while spore sacs around it release spores that can damage you. Occasionally, the monster stretches its head out, leaving the core vulnerable. The core is the only weak point it has. When the battle progresses, the monster moves its head around even faster. This can start to get annoying. Not much else about this thing, so good luck.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Samus is in Morph Ball to avoid being hit by the large head of the Spore Spawn. The little green specks are spores.

    Kraid
Location: Kraid's Hideout (now located behind a hidden opening right next to the elevator to Norfair)
    Prize: Varia Suit
Bio: Kraid is just like he is in Zero Mission, but his stomach spikes look hella tight. At first, only his head is emerged from the large, thorny pit, and you can damage him with anything; charged beams, missiles, or Super Missiles. Soon, he lifts his entire body upward, destroying the ceiling and allowing you to use remaining rubble as a platform. Continue this fight like you have in Zero Mission.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

This portrays the first phase of the fight, when Kraid's head is shown only. Samus has missiles ready.

    Crocomire
    Location: Norfair
Prize: The ability to progress further into Norfair
Bio: This fight will really get the adrenaline flowing. The fight is executed very well; basically, the objective is a pushing fight. If you're too slow, you'll be shoved between a giant lizard's belly and a wall of spikes. If you're fast enough, well...Crocomire falls into a pit of acid. And his death, oh snap, is EPIC. What happens? His skin melts off his skeleton before your eyes. It is creepy. But you beat him by shoving charged shots or (Super) missiles down his throat, forcing him to take a step back. If you're too slow, he'll push you back.
When he dies, you see bubbles slide to the other side of the long room. When you reach the wall of spikes that you would have been lodged into should you have been slow, the wall busts down as Crocomire's skeleton breaks through the wall. Samus prepares for another fight, however, by that time, Crocomire's skin is gone, and his organs melted. So, he is just a pile of bones, and as such, the skeleton collapses, with just his skull sticking out of the ground. Didn't I say his death was utterly EPIC? Also, don't use Power Bombs, it just pisses Crocomire off, and makes the fight harder for you.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Crocomire roars. Samus is about to shoot a charged shot into his mouth, which will make him take two (or three?) steps back.

    Phantoon
    Location: Wrecked Ship
Prize: Its defeat allows access to the various reaches of the ship, allowing you to get the Gravity Suit.
Bio: Uh, creepy? Kind of. Phantoon is featured in the Halloween theme. Basically, you shoot him when his eye is open, and he's visible. (duh) His forms of attack are smacking you with various patterns of blue fireballs that have a little eye in the middle, like Phantoon himself. Unless you know what you're doing, DON'T USE SUPER MISSILES! Why? They piss Phantoon off. They make Phantoon appear at the top of the room, eye closed, making it impossible to hit him, and then he starts serging the room with fireballs eight times in the form of a ring. (think of Tabuu's off-waves in Brawl) This attack pattern will waste a tank and a half of your energy, as there's no way of dodging the waves unless you roll into a ball and alternate corners, but even this method of avoiding is risky. It is advised that you stick to charged beam shots, as they don't piss Phantoon off, and they deal more damage anyway. When Phantoon dies, the Wrecked Ship gains power again, and the creepy ghosts that prevented you from saving are all gone. This also leaves the opportunity to search the greater reaches of the ship to find the Gravity Suit, an absolute necessity when you venture to Maridia.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Samus has been damaged by Phantoon. Phantoon is throwing the fireballs around crazily.

    Botwoon
    Location: Maridia (brick section)
Prize: Upon its defeat, you have access to the deeper parts of Maridia's bricked up section
Bio: Easy boss. It is featured in the Maridia theme. When you enter the room, simply stand there and shoot the beast's head when it is in your weapon's path. It will occasionally poke its head out a hole and fire at you. This is easy to dodge. It also snakes through the holes, which is why I advise to stay in the left corner of the room. Nothing much else.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Botwoon is snaking through the holes.

    Draygon
    Location: Maridia (brick section)
    Prize: Space Jump
Bio: Draygon is a creepy crustacean with screaming faces all over its body. It can be easy to beat, or difficult. You pick. The difficult way is to pound him with weapons on the stomach, or you can destroy a turret, let him pick you up, and follow up by firing the Grappling Beam at the busted turret. At the price of about two Energy Tanks, the electricity will fry Draygon and kill him almost instantly. For attacks, Draygon will spew gunk at you, immobilizing you, following up by picking you up off the ground. He will then hit you with his tail (and it looks a little wrong...) and continue to hold you. By this time, you should just say 'screw it' and use the easy way.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

A Super Missile has been fired from Samus's arm cannon. I chose to do the hard way in this one.

    Golden Torizo
    Location: Lower Norfair
    Prize: Screw Attack
Bio: Yes, there is a second Torizo. This one is even harder. Missiles will have no effect (it sidestep dodges them), so don't try them; Super Missiles, on the other hand, may work, but it is better advised to slam it with charged beam shots, as they deal more damage. This thing will knock your health out pretty quick if you're a terrible strategy-maker. Be careful. It has all the functions of the first Torizo, but the damage dealt is increased (even with the Gravity Suit's upgraded shields :o) and it has even more tedious attacks and such. It also has a crapload of health for what you're armed with for now, so be prepared.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

The Golden Torizo is about to throw something at Samus. (um...anger management issues? lol) Samus just fired a Super Missile at the statue's stomach. Mind the ceiling above; there is a hidden Super Missile Expansion.

    Ridley Battle 2
    Location: Lower Norfair
Prize: None (though the room contains a shattered case that should look familiar, and an Energy Tank beneath the door)
Bio: The Golden Torizo was just a warm-up. On the first try, this is the fight that will change your mind if you thought Ridley was a pushover in other games. Really, though, the challenge is mainly that he deals ridiculous damage and has a crapload of health, even moreso than the Golden Torizo. But fight him like you always have. Word to the wise: DON'T LET HIM HIT YOU.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Ridley tries to pick Samus up while Samus is in Morph Ball.

    Mother Brain
    Location: Tourian
    Prize: Progression
Bio: Wow, what a pushover for a final boss. Seriously. You would have expected more from a game that was simply amazing...up until now. I mean seriously. They should have just made Ridley the final boss and be done with it, right? If you think so, then just start pelting the brain with missiles after you break the stasis tank. Wow, this was too easy...

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

The glass is cracked. Samus is trying to defeat Mother Brain.

Wait, what the hell? A body has been built under the brain after it fell! Does this mean another fight? Oh yes, and it is one of the best boss fights in video gaming history.

    Mother Brain II
    Location: Tourian
Prize: A time bomb. Yay! No srsly. This is the last boss. But I'm not kidding about the time bomb.
Bio: Wow, Mother Brain was pretty sad to be considered a warm-up. A pathetic brain that can't fight for itself turns into this horrid, drooling monstrosity, and believe me, this fight will be fun. I wouldn't say hard, I beat it with ease. Use charged beam shots into its eye; once again, they deal the most damage. Beware of Mother Brain II's bizarre forms of attack. After a certain point, it will start to fire a weapon called the Nova Laser; a weapon that will take off TWO ENERGY TANKS. So be extremely careful, and DODGE AT ALL COSTS! But keep shooting. Soon, Mother Brain will charge something in its brain, and hit you with a Mind Laser, which will take off three Energy Tanks. Only thing is, it's unavoidable, so you NEED three Energy Tanks available to survive. After one Mind Laser, you'll be stuck on the ground, nearly dead. Mother Brain almost unleashes another Mind Laser, up until the large Metroid you saw earlier in Tourian that sucked you down to 1 energy zips in and starts sucking Mother Brain II's brain. What's this tell you? Is the Metroid hungry? Maybe it appears so at first, but then it replenishes your energy. So yes, that Metroid was the hatchling you found after terminating the Queen Metroid on SR388. Family reunion! After this, Mother Brain gets back up, and attacks. It starts attacking the Metroid (which is now HUGE) and damaging it. The Metroid swoops in for the kill, but Mother Brain shoots one more time...killing the Metroid. Well, that sucked. The Metroid falls on you, and uses the Mind Laser's technology to fuse all of your beams together into...the Hyper Beam! (Note: It is NOT the same Hyper Beam as Prime 3) Continue the fight against Mother Brain. Hit it mercilessly with the Hyper Beam, and soon, it will die. The brain will disintegrate. It's over!...almost. The blasted brain set off a time bomb, as a gift only for you. Now, you have to escape Tourian and get back to your ship before Planet Zebes as a whole completely explodes into nothingness. You have three minutes to do so. Good luck!

    [PokeCommunity.com] Metroid

Mother Brain II drools as Samus readies her Charge Beam.

Fusion Boss Guide - MAJOR SPOILER WARNING

    Arachnus X
    Location: Main Deck
    Prize: Morph Ball
Bio: If you've played Metroid II, this dude is from it; in fact, Arachnus was one of the only two bosses in that game. However, this iteration proves to be different, likely because it's an X host. It attacks with sharp wave slashes and rolling into a ball to tackle you. After killing it, you fight it's Core X, something you should get used to when fighting bosses in Fusion from now on. There are two types of Core X: Membrane cores, that which you only have to hit with missiles anywhere, and eye cores, that which can only be damaged if you shoot a missile into its eye. When the Core X is destroyed, you absorb it (thanks to the Metroid vaccine) and obtain the Morph Ball.

    Fake Chozo Statue
    Location: Sector 1 (SRX)
    Prize: Charge Beam
Bio: At first, it's a Chozo statue. Shoot the item stone to reveal the Morph Ball power-up. However, the statue then turns immediately into an eye Core X. Bust the membrane by shoving missiles into its eye, and absorb the X. You just obtained the Charge Beam.

    Zazabi
    Location: Sector 2 (TRO)
    Prize: Hi-Jump and Jumpball
Bio: When on the ground, Zazabi cannot be damaged. However, soon Zazabi starts hopping around mindlessly, soon to slowly hover down with its mouth open. This is your time to shine. Shove a few missiles into the mouth for it to reach the eye. Soon, the mouth gets smaller, and Zazabi glides down faster. Simply continue the process. Should you get swallowed by Zazabi, use Bombs in Morph Ball form to force yourself out. Zazabi soon turns into a membrane Core X. You know what to do. The remaining core is red and blue; this is because absorbing it will give you two of your abilities back: Hi-Jump and Jumpball.

    Serris
    Location: Sector 4 (AQA)
    Prize: Speed Booster
Bio: Serris is, according to A-er, the computer, a serpent that can attack at ultra-fast speeds. Which explains the Speed Booster. Now, after doing some calculations, the Charge Beam actually works better in this game. Both missiles and the Charge Beam will send this creature into hyperspeeding fury, and since one missile will piss it off, and missile < Charge Beam, you should be aware of what you choose. Serris moves around similar to how Botwoon snakes around in holes. When it's slowed, hit its head with a charged shot. It will start to go crazy in hyperspeed, and I know how to dodge this. Enter the water. Stay in Morph Ball mode towards the left of the room, but not all the way left. Serris is sneaky, and sometimes pops out directly next to the door, so only go towards the left. Serris never touches that spot, so you're good to go. When it comes back to normal speed, hit it with a charged shot, and rinse and repeat. Serris will become a membrane Core X, and absorbing it gives you the Speed Booster ability.

    B.O.X. Security Drone Battle 1
    Location: Sector 3 (PYR)
    Prize: None
Bio: This fight...hm...let's just say it will either be extremely difficult, or pathetically easy. It just can't be in between. But anyway. The drone can only be damaged by its head, which is entirely protected by heavy duty armored arms. You can hang onto the monkey bars above to make the fight easier. All the drone does is jump around, and shoot bombs that will raise walls of fire in both directions. Here's a tip for avoiding getting hit by the bombs' impact: when it's shot out, go directly above it. Yeah, call me crazy, but that's how it works. The impact doesn't go straight upward, but rather the walls of fire extend outwards in both directions as said. If you couldn't reach the bomb in time to climb directly above it, then wait for the fire to retract, and quickly climb over it during recession. The walls of fire retract low after a short bit, then extend again shortly after. So be very cautious. After you've damaged the drone enough, it will hop away, leaving debris behind, allowing you to climb upward and escape this sector.

    Megacore X
    Location: Sector 6 (NOC)
    Prize: Varia Suit
Bio: This boss doesn't really inherit the Varia Suit's abilities, but anyway. When you reach the data room in Sector 6, you'll find a Core X absorbing the Varia Suit's abilities and destroying the data room. Continue into the large room with water. The large Core X forms an even stronger shield that can only be damaged by charged shots, and surrounds itself with smaller variations of itself as well. Simply a few shots will force the shield off, and you will fight a membrane Core X. Absorb the X after so to get the Varia Suit!

    X Infected Scientist
    Location: Sector 3 (PYR)
Prize: Wide Beam (what was once called the Spazer)
Bio: Like the fake Chozo statue, this fight is pretty simple. You're sent here because something is telling the main boiler in Sector 3 to melt the entire sector, which, according to the computer, could make the entire B.S.L. Station exlplode. You have six minutes to get to the boiler, and when you do, you see a bald scientist fiddling with the controls of the boiler. Shoot him a few times to make him revert into an eye Core X. Ah, haven't fought one of these in a while. Hopefully you know what to do. Absorbing it will give you the Wide Beam, which is the equivalent to the Spazer. After this, fix the controls of the boiler, and the sector will cool down.

    Yakuza
    Location: Reactor Silo
    Prize: Space Jump
Bio: Well, well, as it turns out, something stopped the power in the entire station, and you have to restore auxilary power, for starters. And you end up fighting Yakuza, a large spider boss. Brace yourself for this one, and perhaps sigh in relief. This is actually one of the hardest bosses in the game. After this, you're good to go until SA-X. How do you kill Yakuza, you ask? What? It just keeps picking you up and taking out waaaaaay too much energy? Oh yeah. That's what it does, plus shoots fireballs. You can't avoid the fireballs as easily, but the picking up part is entirely avoidable. Enter Morph Ball, and stick yourself in a corner. Now, the freak can't touch you. Clever, eh? However! I suggest you stay on your toes, and watch for when Yakuza is about to spit fireballs. When his mouth opens, shoot missiles into its mouth (missiles prove more useful in this fight, because you can fire rapidly into its mouth). Get out of the way of the fireballs, and stick yourself back in a corner in Morph Ball mode. Shortly after, Yakuza will lose its legs and start hopping in mid-air, spitting unknown material out. Stand in one corner of the room and fire missiles diagonally. Spam R+B constantly when Yakuza hops near. Shoot into its mouth multiple times, and then prepare for a membrane Core X fight. Breeze through that part, absorb it, and you now got yourself the Space Jump!

    Nettori
    Location: Sector 2 (TRO)
    Prize: Plasma Beam
Bio: Ah, Sector 2, how long it has been. Unless you've been goofing off, you haven't been here since Zazabi! But anyway. This fight is easy, but annoying. At first, it will partially behave like Spore Spawn. Little flowers up high shoot spores at you, and unless you're good on your feet, you'll fall into an energy sucking flower, which believe me, is annoying. Your target is the large golden Chozo statue being infested with vines. Shoot missiles into the statue, and soon, the front part will fall off. The spore-spitting flowers disappear, and the Chozo statue - with its front entirely blown off - will start shooting plasma shots at you. These are very easy to dodge. Continue the fight as you've been. When the statue is annihilated, you'll fight an eye Core X, which will provide you with the Plasma Beam!

    Nightmare
    Location: Sector 5 (ARC)
    Prize: Gravity Suit
Bio: Remember when you first came to Sector 5, after getting the Ice Missiles, and when you were avoiding Chute Leech/Hellfish hybrids, there was an odd silhouette zipping around behind the glass, making an eerie sound? That was Nightmare. Now, you're actually fighting it. Nightmare was apparently a failed military drone supposedly built for use in battle against the Space Pirates. It specialized in manipulating gravity. How it failed, I have abso-freaking-lutely no clue, because this is a rather hard fight, unless you spam B while holding R. But anyway. Begin the fight by getting under the fiend and shooting missiles at its gravity manipulator. It sticks out. You can't miss it. It doesn't take much to force Nightmare to start up its special device. When it does, it's an exact replica of being underwater. Except now, missiles are uneffective, as the gravity pushes on them to the ground. Unless, of course, you fire them point-blank into the device. Use charged shots instead, however. A few shots will destroy the manipulator, causing gravity to return to normal, and Nightmare's mask to blow off. The face under Nightmare's mask is disturbing, so I won't describe it. Climb onto the wall bars and start rapidly firing missiles into the drone's nasty face. It now likes to ram you more often, for some reason. Simply use Space Jump to try and avoid. When Nightmare floats to the opposite side of the room, hop onto the monkey bars. It should trigger his AI to command him to float slowly towards you while shooting his lasers. Hold R and spam B into its face, mercilessly. If done with great timing, you should be able to force Nightmare into its Core X form in two rounds. Absorb the core, and you will obtain the Gravity Suit!

    B.O.X. Security Drone Battle 2
    Location: Sector 6 (NOC)
    Prize: Wave Beam
Bio: What's this? You came to some gate that implies that you aren't authorized to progress! What's up with that? You have clearance to go to all sectors!...Ah well, better turn back. Wait, wtf? When you come a few rooms back, the familiar face returns. This time, it's in a pit of water, making the liquid dangerous to the touch. The armor on its skull is almost blown off, leaving just a glass case and an organic brain underneath. This surely sounds familiar, doesn't it? Yeah, well. Use a Power Bomb to reveal a set of monkey bars to hang on. The drone has a new weapon, replacing the old bombs: heat-seeking missiles. This time, the drone can knock you off the bars by jumping, so you'll end up in electrified water. Here's a nice technique to use: Go to the far right of the room, and hang on the monkey bars. Go the furthest right on the bars as possible. If you initiate this tactic with good timing, this battle should be a breeze. The drone's AI commands it to release missiles every few jumps, and if you initiated the tactic at the right time, it will always unleash them in the same spot. Destroy the missiles by shooting them. It will then walk towards you, following with a jump, trying to knock you off, but a short ledge prevents it from reaching you. When in your weapon's path, fire multiple missiles. Rinse and repeat. When the glass case is destroyed, the robot will revert to an eye Core X, and the water won't be electrified. Finish the Core X, and absorb it to get...the Wave Beam! Remember that gate that said you weren't allowed in? Well, that's because the shutter's release button was on the other side, making it unreachable...but now, the Wave Beam can penetrate walls, so why not use it to "sneak" into there, just to check things out?

    Ridley X
    Location: Restricted Zone
    Prize: Screw Attack
Bio: I won't spoil what was in the lab. But after you're done exploring the "Restricted Lab" you supposedly weren't allowed into, you're released into a mechanical lab connected to Sector 1. In this lab, you fight the grossly distortionate and pathetically easy Ridley X. If you were curious what was in the subzero containment room nearby your ship (guilty as charged) and went there when you got the Varia Suit, you would've seen Ridley there, frozen solid. Well, he got free. But the X copied his genetic code and made him into this ugly...thing. It's just like Ridley from Zero Mission, only loads slower and easier. And less fireball spitting. Use charged shots to finish Ridley faster. Beating him and the membrane Core X that follows will earn you...the Screw Attack!

    SA-X
    Location: Operations Deck
    Prize: None (for the moment...)
Bio: Gracious. Goodness. Gracious. Overpowered beyond all things possible, this thing is a real *******. If you made the mistake of not trying to get all Energy Tanks (aside from if you were attempting a speed-run) before this, you will likely die. The only things that damage it are your Screw Attack and a charged shot. That's it. All it does is shoot its Ice Beam at you, and Screw Attack. If it does a Screw Attack, go ahead and run. But keep a shot charged for when it lands. One Ice Beam shot will knock out two Energy Tanks or so, and the Screw attack isn't much better. Twenty direct charged shots or so will supposedly defeat the fiend, up until it transforms into a hybrid of Samus and a Hornoad. Remember at the beginning, the Prologue, when Samus got infected by the X within that Hornoad? That Hornoad DNA remained. But this phase is actually pretty easy. All it does is try to jump on you, and you defeat it by hitting it with four charged shots. It will then revert to its Core X, which is an eye Core. Beware, this eye shoots the Ice Beam as well. Destroy it as you have with all other eye Core X's, and soon, the prize is yours!...or not. It flies away before you can grab it. Oh well. Back to the mission. Turn on the self-destruct mechanism, and hurry back to your ship.

    Omega Metroid
    Location: Docking Bays
    Prize: Credits
Bio: It just seems to me that this is a replica of the fight against Mother Brain II. Except they tried to make it as good, though it wasn't, but this fight was actually pretty nice. The Omega Metroid isn't too hard, but it's damn powerful. You get to the dock where your ship should be, and you also see an extremely large Metroid shell. After a few seconds, an Omega Metroid pops out, and slashes you. It was so powerful, that you lost all health but one HP. The SA-X's core then comes in and starts shooting the Ice Beam at the Metroid's belly. It takes damage, and then slashes at the SA-X. The SA-X reverts to its Core X, only without a membrane. Grab the core, and your health will get restored. Your entire suit will turn orange, and you will earn the Ice Beam! Go under the Omega Metroid and shoot the Ice Beam constantly. It will slash, and kill one Energy Tank of yours, plus leave you panting for a second. Keep on shooting its belly. If you decide to be a coward, the adult Metroid will corner you and take out three Energy Tanks. So, keep up your assault. Oh, have I mentioned, you had three minutes to escape the station since you destroyed the SA-X? Yeah, well, that still stands strong. 'Cept now, you prolly got, what, a minute and a half, maybe? So you'd better hurry. Killing the Omega Metroid in time will call your ship to the docks, and you will escape safely. Congratulations, you've beaten the game!

If I am somehow or another breaking a rule of some sort, I apologize. (I read the rules, but you can never be too sure)

Eh? No, this isn't a club, more of a discussion of the series, if you will. I posted this thread at Serebii with a similar presentation and it remained under Nintendo Discussion, not under clubs, sir.

Perhaps I presented it a little too much like a club...? Anyway, if I were to post it as a club, it probably wouldn't get as many views or replies as it would here. :P

What is your favorite Metroid game?
Metroid Prime. Possibly the most beautiful game on the 'Cube.

    6. Metroid Prime 1-3, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid, and Super Metroid.

    What is your favorite track(s)?
Brinstar (Metroid) Brinstar Depths (Metroid) Ridley's theme, Tallon IV overworld, Space Pirate Frigate (Crashed), and Phendrana Drifts.

    What is your favorite boss?
Ridley and Metroid Prime when considering bosses in general.

My favorite boss fight is Metroid Prime, followed by the Omega Pirate, Quadraxis, Meta Ridley, Omega Ridley, and the fight with Ridley while falling down that shaft in MP3.

Are there any new Metroid games planned for release besides those Metroid Prime 1-2 Wiimakes? D:

What is your favorite Metroid game?
Metroid Prime 3 & MP 1 for sure.

How many Metroid games do you own?
Fusion, Primes 1 -3, Zero Mission, Classic and I've played the others except Metroid II
    What is your favorite track(s)?
Magmoor/Lower Norfair, Kraid's Theme, Ridley's theme and my favorite: Samus Aran's theme

What are your best times for any Metroid game?
I dont actually try for times. I prefer enjoying the games.

    Do you ever sequence break?
I do. I have gotten the SEcret MEssage on Fusion and I did a no Gravity Suit run on MP1 (that required some ghetto underwater jumps XD) with early Plasma Beam and Power Bombs

    What is your favorite boss?
    Ridley, 'nuff said

However I do want more supporting characters like Admiral Dane. I would like to see more of the backstory of Adam or the supporting cast from Metroid Manga

Wow! You really must have spent a lot of time on that boss guide! I can't really say I'm a huge Metroid fan; I only own one game...

What is your favorite Metroid game?
Metroid Prime, since... It's the only Metroid game I own. It was a lot of fun, even though it got a little confusing. Oh, and the sudden startling parts. Can't forget the sudden startling parts.

How many Metroid games do you own?
    *cough*

    What is your favorite track(s)?
When Space Pirates appear in Metroid Prime. Coolness.

What are your best times for any Metroid game?
Hmm... I'd have to check. Definitely not good, though. XD

    Do you ever sequence break?
    ...Do I ever huh? Sorry...

    What is your favorite boss?
My favorite boss would have to that rock boss or the ice boss.... I'm very specific, aren't I? :P

    Wow, long thread. =P

I'm a fan of the Metroid series, as I've got most of the essentials; Prime 1, 2, and 3, Super Metroid, the original NES, and the boatload of handhelds for the GBA and DS. Still disappointed to this day there was no "Metroid 64", just because it never seems quite right when one of Nintendo's flagship series is left without a game on any particular console (kinda like how Kirby didn't have anything on the GCN, unless you count spin-offs like Air Ride).

I'd probably say my favorite was either Prime or Super Metroid. Both were pretty awesome games.

edit: woo, 400 posts! Sweet. =P

I only own and have only played Metroid II: Return of Samus. Being notoriously terrible at platform games I've never actually completed it, but I've been meaning to do so with a walkthrough at some point.
Reading about the other games makes me glad I have this particular one, to be honest; the obvious (or not) reason being that it depicts all stages of a natural metroid's life. It also seems comparatively devoid of a story, something most people don't find endearing, but I do.
My favourite track is 'Enter SR388', sounds very typically sci-fi-esque but it's nice to listen to. I always found the metroid battle theme very ominous. :x

That's probably the reason you don't own any other Metroid games: RoS just wasn't fun (for me, at least). Try almost any other Metroid game out there: MP1 was a blast, MF was brilliant, MP2 and 3 were pretty good, and Super Metroid is a classic.

You could also try Metroid: Zero Mission. It's a remake of the first Metroid game that was released in 1986. Then, when you beat MZM all the way through, you unlock the original 1986 Metroid game to play. :D

Metroid is one of my favorite series, sweeties! X3

What is your favorite Metroid game?
I like them all but I love Metroid and Super Metroid the best. Metroid for I had the most memories with and Super Metroid was just made of awesome. I liked the Prime series, but to me, something was lacking. I didn't like the GBA Metroid games a lot because they were just WAY too easy. ><; They weren't bad in anyway, but they were too easy for my tastes.

How many Metroid games do you own?
I own them all. I even the Japanese FDS Metroid disk. =D

    What is your favorite track(s)?
    Kraid's theme, sweeties.

What are your best times for any Metroid game?
I really can't remember sweetie, all I know for a fact I beat Metroid and Super Metroid in under two hours.

    Do you ever sequence break?
How else I can beat Super Metroid under 2 hours?

    What is your favorite boss?
    Super Metroids final boss.
    Spoiler:
