Mew?

Mew has tiny arms and large feet like a gerbil. Plus its tail is gerbil-like. Besides the name and maybe the ears, it bears no resemblance to a cat.

It resembles a cat it a way.

It's a cat. Why are people arguing against this? Since when was Pokemon supposed to be accurate to the real world? It's a cat. Look at it's name and look at its face. Cat. Psychic cat.

This is why I argue against it.

Mew is actually a popular cat's name. Type 'Mew' into an image search engine, and you'll find picture's of cats. ;)

Hmm.. Maybe it is a mouse or something like that. I?m not really sure.

Holy crap, even when I post visual proof on Mew NOT being a cat, people still insist it is. Are you people lacking in the sight department?

You have two things going against your argument. Three, actually.
1. Mew has the ears of a cat. Triangle shaped ears are the trademark of many felines.
2. His name is onomatopoeia for the sound a cat makes.
3. Pokemon aren't real world animals. Notice that bears in real life don't have rings on their belly (Ursaring) or that mice don't have zig-zag shaped tails that generate electricity?

You should have figured it was a cat just by looking at its name.

I've always thought of Mew as some kind of a rabbit/kangaroo (rat)/something because of the body shape, with a cat's head. There, everything solved. Yay.

I am right and you are wrong. And there are bears with ring-like patterns on their chests. Mew has cat ears and makes a cat sound. WHOA!!!! It's a cat! Just like a type of frog who makes a sound like a meow! It must be a cat then!

I would say mew is most like a kitten, but with a hint of mouse-iness ^^
