On a side note, isn't Mewtwo the most powerful pokemon ever? Or did something happent to change his status? In the official pokemon handbook, it is said all trainers whom capture this pokemon are pokemon Masters! This isn't any ordinary pokemon here! This guy invented the term Legendary!

It really all depends on your definition of a legendary PokeMon. If your idea of a Legend is that it must have legends or myths that are told about it, then no, Mewtwo isn't really a Legend...at least yet. Of course, over time, as the stories are passed on from generation to generation, Mewtwo could very well become a Legend. If, on the other hand, your definition of a Legend is a PokeMon that is the only one of its species, Mewtwo would fit the legendary mold. An Uber PokeMon is an extremely powerful PokeMon. Mewtwo doesn't really fit the Uber mold either, however. Uber PokeMon have more than just one of its species. For instance, Wobbuffet is considered an Uber PokeMon, yet there are many Wobbuffets in existance. In conclusion, it really all depends on what your defintion of a Legendary PokeMon is. In my opinion, Mewtwo is just a unique, powerful PokeMon, that doesn't really fit into any one category. There are too many factors involved for me to say if Mewtwo is or isn't a Legendary PokeMon.

That's an interesting question ^^; For my part, I'm not really sure, cause, you see, he's just as powerful as almost any legendary, so he's their equal in that. I won't say he's "rare" because... well, look around, almost everyone who's ever played a pokemon game owns AT LEAST one legendary, but he's just as rare as most of them (those obtainable by tickets excluded, of course ^^; )

As for the legends part, I mean, sure there aren't any, but the way I see it, Moltres/Zapdos/Articuno/Celebi/AndOthersEquallyImportantButTooNumerousToName weren't legends at the very moment they had appeared ^^; And Mewtwo (even though he's not my personal favourite because he's creepy ) did came into being rather recently. Maybe when some years have passed in the pokemon world, and he's had some great miracles done to his name, he'll be legendary too and people will tell their kids:"It was a dark, stormy night when Mewtwo did /InsertIncredibleDeedHere/"

I'm not saying that Mewtwo won't have legends about it in the future, heck, he probably will, but by my view, he shouldn't be considered a Legendary pokemon for the time being.

like someone said earlier, it depends on what u r definition of a legendary pokemon is, i myself think that mewtwo should be a legendary pokemon cuz it looks like a pokemon and has the powers of a pokemon. and mewtwo is definitly strong enough to be considered a legendary just like the other ones.

To be honest, Mewtwo is in a class of its own, thats what I think.

After all, its a strong pokemon, and its one of a kind, but lets not forget, its still a pokemon, and no pokemon is completely unbeatable.

I think Mewtwo is creating his own legend in the modern day. Think about it. A pokemon that is unique, being the only clone created. One that has escaped capture from Giovanni not once, but twice, and has great power, along with its psychic attacks and ability to erase memories and cloak others from detection.

Because it is so elusive, and obviously not everyone will have seen him, people will disagree that he exists, and think the idea of one is fake in order to make Giovanni's name bad or some other reason. With this doubt that creeps in, especially over time (decades), the legend of Mewtwo carries on well into the future.

Legends are not simply created, they evolve over time.

I really believe he did a good job on explaining it. Still I add something he didn't really metion.

A Legendary is a pokemon who people don't really believe it existed. A few people have even seen them too. If you apply this to Mewtwo then he is a Legendary then. Few people have seen him. THen he was made by Team Rocket who were trying to hide him as in placing armor on him and few people in Team Rocket knew about Mewtwo. How could people have known about Mewtwo then? Not everybody knows about Mewtwo.

Of course Mewtwo is legendary. In my mind, legendary means one of great and unmatchable ability, and Mewtwo has that in spades. A legend is one that is talked about, and I don't think any pokemon was mentioned in the RBY days more than Mewtwo was (well, maybe Mew since everyone wanted him. That and the illusive Pikablue)! Everyone and his Poke-loving brother had a story to tell about their Mewtwo in some epic battle.

Well put, charizard maa. In fact Mewtwo took great lengths to make sure people didn't know about him at the end of the first movie. (erasing memory).
