3rd Gen mewtwo question

hi all im new the forums and have a question. The other day i beat the elite four in my game of leafgreen and went to the cerualean cave but could not get in to find mewtwo. the person was still blocking the entrance, is there something else i have to do before i can catch mewtwo, because in red and blue after u beat the elite four, u could go straight to the cave and catch mewtwo. feedback would be great. thanks.

The answer to this should be in the FAQ, but I didn't see it there so:

You have to give Celio the Ruby and Sapphire first. Once you do that, the guard will let you in.
