I have a question for everyone. In Pokemon Yellow, (I assume Red/Blue are the same) the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnebar Island states in a journal entry that Mewtwo was created by scientifically impregnating Mew. If you look at Pokemon The Movie (First movie), Mew was cloned by scientists and grown in a tube. Well, the game was created first. I'm confused, what are your thoughts?

ummm very good observation, i'll have to look that up I don't know the correct answer for sure :P

Obvious answer is that they're two separate canons. Mewtwo is Mew's child in the games canon while Mewtwo is a clone of Mew in the anime canon. :P

They probably changed it for the movie, because if they said Mew was impregnated in it, many kids would have asked their parents "What's impregnated mean Mommy/Daddy?". And they probably didn't think of that with the game boy games, or they did and didn't think it would matter. Especially since the movie was made in partner with some other company, right? So they probably wouldn't have approved and it wasn't that hard to make that small change.

The anime and games have never been completely cannon with each other in the slightest. I wouldn't call that a flaw but it is an interesting difference that I never noticed before now. Thanks for pointing that out.

Because a living thing being created by a corporation wouldn't sound traumatizing? Probably not to kids but the idea now is rather controversial.

It never explicitly used the word impregnated.

Guyana, South America. A new Pokémon was discovered deep in the jungle.

We christened the newly discovered Pokémon Mew.

    February 6
Mew gave birth. We named the newborn Mewtwo.

    September 1
Mewtwo is far too powerful. We have failed to curb its vicious tendencies...

As the story goes, Mew already had an embryo within it, and it was tampered with DNA experiments and Mew gave birth to the mutation that became known as Mewtwo.

Obviously, tampering with embryos would come across bad if it was said directly.

It is more implied than directly said.

The games and the anime different cannons. Does that make it less confusing?

Eh, I think having Mewtwo "grown" in the movie was easier than trying to get around the whole...Mew giving birth thing...especially since Pokémon lay eggs and don't actually give birth like mammals (minus the few that lay eggs).

Yes but this is mew. Could be different.

They needed to change to make it change

As said, anime and game are not canon so really, it could go either way. Personally, I'd have loved to have a sidequest upon being the Champion in Yellow where you come across an abandoned lab where Mewtwo was being created and then you find him and fight him.

    Well...

Imagine if mew gave birth in the movie... I mean, Mewtwo is HUGE compared to mew.... Poor mew might explode before giving birth...

    Or have a very ragged...nevermind...

Anyways, for all we know, a "baby" Mewtwo would be a grey and purple Mew that hyper-mutated to the Mewtwo we know now.

Well, it is basically what timbjerr said. The game and Anime cannons are completely different. They are handled by different people.

It's most likely that a baby mewtwo would be smaller then the adult mewtwo, the anime shows evidence of this.
