*This is by no way a simple question, or else I would have found an answer to this within the last 2 hours

We all know what it is. Talk to the old man with a Pokemon, and it'll be there, or it won't be there. However, the questionable thing is, WHAT determines a Pokemon being "mirage compatible?"

The funny thing is, there's 3 different versions in total, regarding how Mirage Island works. I also stated one of the source regarding the information.

Method A: A random Pokemon ID number is chosen every day, and any Pokemon with the identical ID number will be a mirage Pokemon (serebii.net, mirage Pokemon page)

Method B: It is related to a certain combination of a hidden number, Individual Values. (APCC)

Method C: It is related to the gender break point. Every Pokemon (including the legendaries and genderless) has a certain number assigned. Depending on the species, certain numbers will mean a male, and certain numbers will mean a female. However, in between the 256 numbers, there will be a neutral zone of "equilvalent gender." This Pokemon is the mirage Pokemon. Since every species have a different gender ratio, the gender equilvalent number varies from species to species. (But then again, what's the gender for the equilvalent gender Pokemon then?). This is from 2 faqs in gamefaq.

Method D: Same as above, except that the value is always 0, regardless of what species the Pokemon is. This means that the ratio is the same regardless of species unlike the Method C. Strangely, this is ALSO from Serebii.net. Well so much for them double checking if they have the right info. The same site can say 2 completely different things. Fun fun fun...

So... does anyone know actually WHICH saying is the correct saying? The most trustworthy site in the world, pokefor.tk, sadly doesn't have any info on this...

PS: And if you claim to know, you better be able to support yourself, not just "I think it's D." or "I think it's method ___ because this certain site said so."

well i just take all my pokemon to that old dude once every week.which i've been doing for about 3 weeks. nothing yet.

I thought my site only had the one way

Well the one I posted yesterday is I believe Accurate

About One year ago, the Gender Value theory was disproved

The rest is the single value that matches and thats what I put

I have a guide pokemon On ruby and sapphire that says that if you have a whynut on your team then the island is seen as wynut can be caught from there so if you get the egg from the old lady at Laveridge then it hatchs then go try it should work then

I think it's method A.I've never been to mirage island but I think thats the way.

Prove it. That's the point of this thread. It's not an 'I think it's this method', it's a display of evidence.

I think it's method A because one of my friends had a pokemon team that couldn't get there one day but another day he got there with the same pokemon team.(He doesn't know which pokemon had the same number as the island.)

i dont think that wynat thing is true.it has something to do with numbers to get to mirage island.

RS has been out for two years now and people are STILL arguing over this?

The game has been hacked in-depth several times over by ROM hackers worldwide. You would at least think they'd have found something by now.

This is really really old, please don't revive~
