Missing Coins

    I've never attacked a Gym before so maybe I'm missing something. I came across a Gym owned by my team and had 1 low CP Pokemon in it so I thought I would give it a go. I attacked and Won but when I went to collect my Coins there was nothing there. I checked the Gym to see if my Pokemon was there but a different Pokemon was there so must of attacked soon after unless you can attack at the same time? Anyway as I said my Coins wasn't there so what happened to them? Thanks in advance.
     
    If you attack a gym that is owned by your own team, it's classified as training. You won't get coins from this, but you'll want to challenge or take over a gym that is owned by the other side.

    Oh darn maybe I should just of put a Pokemon in there instead and hope it defends it. If I had put a Pokemon in the team and we defended it would I get Coins that way n is there a certain time you get to collect them?
     
    I believe if you have a Pokemon Defending is what activates the shield. I've yet to just drop a Pokemon in a gym to see if it gives coins, but it wouldn't help to try.
     
    Once you've added a Pokemon you can get the coins by clicking the shield icon in the shop, the more gyms you own the more coins you get but you can only get coins if you still are in control of the gym. You can also only collect coins every 21 hours. My advice is if you can pick a time every day to do a "gym run", take as many gyms as you can as quick as possible then cash out. I can usually be in control of 5 gyms at a time if I'm quick but someone else will take them back again soon after
     
    My Son told me if you take over a Gym and another team takes it over before you collect your Coins you lose them,is that true?

    yes you can only collect coins for gyms who own when you cash out, if theres lots of gyms in your area you will learn how long you can hold them for or which order you take them to cash out the most coins. There are 5 gyms in my town but sometimes i can only cash out for 3 or 4 depending on how many people are out playing
