Hey, guys! My computer crashed, and I've been trying to fix the problem, but I'm at a roadblock. Maybe you can help? I'll try to be as precise as possible:

1.) When I tried to restart my computer, I got to this screen:
    Spoiler:

For this problem, I went to this site: here! It was a major help, and said I needed the recovery console. Unfortunately, Toshiba didn't send me an actual "install" disc, but just a crappy recovery disc. So I had to make one myself!

I found out you can download it to a set of 6 floppies. My laptop doesn't have a floppy drive, so instead I found a way to stick the files onto a CD. I did that, followed the steps, and it worked! Buttt....

2.) When I tried to reboot my laptop, I got this error:

I tried the steps again, but this time it said the files could not be found! Argh! So this is where you guys come in! I'm not sure what to do. I've googled my problem, and the majority of the things I've found lead me to basically the same instructions.

I found something about going to the install menu on the setup disc and then pressing "r", but I can't get that far. My faux install disc doesn't have the user license agreement! I can get more pictures, if needed.

Do you all have any idea?

Try to hook your laptop's hard drive up to another computer and see if you can access it from there.
If you can, check if there's a special folder/partition from your manufacturer, which contains files to turn your recovery disc into a "full" install disc. (usually named i386, recover or something)

That Windows you currently have on there seems too busted to be worth fixing. Reinstalling should be the step you'd take.

why not just contact toshiba about this problem and see if they will send you an install disc

I'll probably end up doing that, or taking it to the tech repair place. I just didn't know if anyone knew the problem so I could do with with in-line script. I have the recovery disc that came with it, but it'll wipe my HDD, which is a no-no until I get my files off it.

You can utilize the Recovery Console through the original installation disc. However, since you do not have any OS Installation Discs.

The only suggestion I could make at this point in time is possibly attempt to obtain an installation disc from a colleague or friend and either repair through recovery console or simply do an entire reinstall.

Toshiba may also have an OEM Installation Disk available. Sometimes there's a recovery partition, but it really depends on the manufacturer.

oh, if you want to get the files, find XP usb edition on the internets, install it onto a usb stick and just boot up windows from it and then you can access your files and such

Do you have an install disk for the version of Windows you're using that came with any other computer you own? Any install disk (for the same OS) will work as far as accessing the recovery console goes - you don't need one specifically for your computer.

Otherwise, I'd recommend you contact Toshiba and request a full install disk. Explain your problem and they'll probably send you one. I'm not sure if they'll charge for it, and I'd hope they wouldn't, but that's something you'll need to find out from them.
