How do I check if the staff has approved a post I make in a folder?

What do you mean by a folder? If you're referring to submitting a thread in a section where the threads need moderator approval before becoming visible then simply look at the section to check whether or not your thread has been approved. Sometimes it can take a while before the section's moderator comes online or gets round to checking the thread so just be patient. :) Most sections like this also carry an approvals thread or have some method of contacting the owner if their thread hasn't been approved due to not adhering with the section's rules, so make sure you read the section's rules and it's most likely covered in there.
