You don't ever ask questions like this, for one. Moderators are usually picked by higher staff like Admins~
 
The FAQ does wonders for this question.

And there's nothing wrong with asking I might add. Asking how to become one is different to actually asking to be a moderator. Although, just searching around the forum would help, and the FAQ has answers to most generic questions such as this.
