    Hello everybody

The people who are helping me with Pokémon Cosmos Version have come up with an idea, but we don't know exactly how to do it, or if its even possible. We were thinking that players can earn money, but to get exclusive items like the Members Card or Gracidea Flower, they have to pay with real money. How would this work if it did work? And also, would the money have to be split between everybody like Poccil and Maruno and everybody who helped with the scripts on Pokécommunity?

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be legal. Nintendo would not be amused if you were making money off of a Pokemon fan game and they would hit you with a C&D at the very least. If you want a game you can monetize, I recommend making an original game so that way you have all your legal assets covered and so you don't spend all this time developing a game to monetize only to get hit with a C&D.

This venture would be pretty frowned upon by the Pokemon Fan-Game community as a whole, that alone is going to kill any chance you have at making money in the event that Nintendo does not shut you down first.

Your best bet is to just forget you ever had this idea and move on to something else if you are looking for an income.

Donations are only ways to get around this... However, what's the point? unless it's an MMO or something where players can battle other players with records and ranks or leagues, nobody will pay real money... Just create an in-game currency or something... Or in-corporate coins as "special" currency.

it doesnt matter if you make up your own monsters and capture methods. (ofcourse including names)
read up on software copyright. It is allmost impossible to have the same source code as gamephreak since they do not make full fledged games for pc.

you can even make knockoffs like pikacho and make it a yellow rat. this has been done many times.

tbh, pokemon is just another rpg, that would mean whoever thought of the 1sth rpg could sue all others. just think of a new element and its not the same, and thus not their product.

it has been done countless times.
    just google monster capture games....

make sure you are making an rpg where you "also" recruit monsters. <- not pokemon

however, they can sue you they allways can. even now, for doing nothing. that's what big stacks of money do for you. it will cost them but it will make you bust. since you probably lack the resources (money) to see it through.

Though I think if you were to put in a lot of hard work and make something people love, you could always accept donations from fans of your work.
The donation web page would have to have some clever wording to avoid any possible issues of getting sued. ;)
