Monster Hunter 3 (a.k.a MH3)

I love this Game!!

I use the lance! It's the best weapon by far!!
 
Holy cow! So, for awhile now I've been farming rustshards hoping for a rush hammer. I got my first rust item about a week ago, but it was the light bowgun, so I kinda ignored it. But today, I decided to beat the single player mode. And I'm fighting Diablos. After I cut both his horns off and his tail with my new Sword and Shield I decide to cap him. And what do I get as a reward? A rustshard. I appraise it and notice it's another hammer (Like seriously about 90% of all my appraised rushshards have been iron hammer+s). So I highlight it just in case, and bam Rusthammer! Oh yeah!

Now, what do I need to upgrade it?
132 Earth Crystals...check
5 monster fluids, 2 Commendations, 2 Frost Sacs, and 2 Flame Sacs...check!
2 Elder Dragon Bloods...well jeez, one of those is rare, but somehow I already have 2, so check.
1 Rathian Ruby...oh jeez. This sucks

Least you got your desired Rust Weapon, rust Shards just love screwing me. I normally get iron+ stuff, with the odd rusted Great Sword, woo-hoo -_-;; though one tme I too got the gun out of it. I want the rusted Sheild and Sword though.

My friend claims he's get Rathian Ruby's with ease, but I'm scipticle lol

IN my progress news, I've beaten my Urgent Quest and made it to HR 40, so I want the 5 star quest availeble online now, though I've yet to do any of them since after we unlocked it for me, my friend and I decided to cycle between doing the Grab 9 wyvren eggs event quest and farming parts we needed. Doing that event quest with just two people in the alotted time doesn't seem to be feasble unless you're either insanely lucky or at least one of the two has land so they can just jump down to 5 with the egg. The quest is a great way to make money though, the reward is high, and the items you get are steel, silver, Gold Eggs along with charms, rustshards, Acients Shards, and I believe commendations is also one of the rewards


I really want to do the Hunt Gigginox, Barioth and Grat Baggi event quest though, since it apparently gives parts for a new longsword...wonder if its actually still there though...
 
Do you know what really sucks. As a lancer, lagiacrus armor was perfect because of Razorsharp ability, but now I'm into advanced quests I have to get plus armor... this means I have to sacrafice razorsharp, guard+1 or speed sharpening. Totally sucks, I just want lagiacrus plus armor as soon as I can! :'(

P.S. does anybody know what is better out of Guard Boost and Guard +1?

Why do you have to sacrafise a skill? there should be no reason to. if you really like them so much, just upgrade your current lagi armor to the next rank, it'll have the same defense of Lagi+ armor does.

The only reason to actually build Plus armor is if you perfer the skills and Slots they offer compared to there low rank counter parts.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm only on the 4 star quests and lagi plus parts aren't available to me yet. My current lagi armour is too weak in defense to take on the plus quests :(

But I'll suck it up until I can get me a lagiacrus!

Oh then yeah, you won't see Lagi till 5 star unfortuantly. when I got to the High Rank quest the first armor I made was Alloy+ along withg Leather+ for gathering. it wasn't long till I was able to upgrade my Rathian gear to be on par with its high rank counter part, which was great for me since it was my current armor I used for fighting certain bosses which roars can screw me or if they're attack is fire element.

I want to to either make or upgrade my Baggi armor set, since it my capture set, that also isn't available till 5 star. Which I'm currently at, so hopefully I can find some free time, some people to play with, or I'm able to beat him myself lol

Yeah, I had to sacrifice my Barioth Armor to get some decent defense in high rank. Also, I'd also recommend Agnaktor Armor. Great for lances because of its Guard+2 and Guard Boost.
 
Finally got to fight Great Baggi some in High Rank (mostly was soloing him) and saw the Plus armor. and the Plus armor is definitely better then just ranking up the low rank armor. Shame it takes so much more to build the plus..I even need to get some Flabby Hide+ off of Gigginox. Currently though I mixed the two for a temp setp up. the chest and leg pieces are plus while the arms and waist pieces are just ranked up low rank armor...oh and the head? well I also wear the Jaggi Mask with my baggi gear lol


While I was looking at the Baggi gear I notice a new set of armor called Dober, and it looks pretty cool and one of its skills that stood out to me was critical draw. It takes parts from Baggi, Barioth, and Gigginox to make though...but I think I'm still going to do it.

Anyways I probably should share a way to find me online. my character name is the same as my use name here and I'm normally found in:
Recruitment > Wisdom2 > Gate 29 > City Gate 34
I ave a tendency when playing by myself online to make the gate be high rank and say "Beginners Welcome" as a contradiction just so I can play alone. However if I'm on with one of my friends it'll says "Casual Play" and depending on what we're doing or who we're playing with it'll be ither High Rak only or open to all ranks

This game is ace!! I'm currently in the middle of capturing a Rathian then I've finished the level 4 quests. (offline btw) Also trying to get the full Gigginox armour, but the Fearsome Maw and the claws can't remember what they're called, won't drop... :S

Does anyone know why for some pieces of armour, they don't show up on the forge list? For example, everything apart from the Gigginox range is there apart from the Mail... helpz? :P

I beleive you mean the Uncanny Claw and as for your question. If I remember correctly in order to see something in your forge list, you need to have at least one of the top item on the equipments forge list required to make it.

I'll have to keep that in mind. it does give me more reason to want to make it. Course I'm not looking forwards to having to face Barioth, him and that ridicules speed and jump length, can really get you...not to mention make it hard for a Long Sword user to build up gauge.

Yeah, Barioth is a real pain to hit. And I have the hardest time dodging his pounces. He's not too hard to kill, but more tedious, if you will.

Pretty much. I do find I go through alot of potions with him.

I still find Barroth to be a pain to fight XD I just have some of the worse luck against him, him and that evil head charge of his.

You know what's really fun to do is play chicken with him with the hammer or great sword. Stuff like that can happen sometimes...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9NYYewCSxo (Some cursing in this).

But, I fought him enough to dodge them charges most of the time.

that video was pretty amusing. And I've fought him a good handful of times myself, its just something seems to catch me offguard or some random shenanigan occurs that leaves me open


Also am I the only one concerned/curious as to why all these hunters would choose to give them muscle spasms after consuming them? aka I'm complaining about the Hunter raising his hands in there air as if its a victory to using an item. Its just pointless time consuming and leaves you open to take a hit if your unlucky like myself >_>

Yeah thats really annoying if the monster seems fixated on you while your trying to heal... Sooooo irritating; down to a few pixels of health, you bail from the fight for a minute to patch yourself up, your three team members pounding away at the Diablos's face, it turns to you and charges, hey I know! I'm gonna put my arms up like a complete moron because I was clever enough to use this Mega Potion without spilling any! WHAM. Reward decreased by 1400z...

Yeah I know that feeling. especially with Barroth.

I'll be low on health and decide to heal. I check whats Barroths up to, he's fighting my team mates and they're doing a great job distracting him. so I decide to pop a potion while keeping an eye on Barroth....as soon as I start drinking that potion, what does Barroth do? Turn and face me...followed by a head charge. This happens about 85% of the times I try to heal while fighting him.

I swear some of the bosses have a sensor to tell when someone is using a an item
