I've been curious about Pokemon lately because it seems there are a ton of kids on my block (around elementary/middle school) who like to play it. Thinking of something fun to do this summer, I picked up Pearl the other day and am about to finish it. I started doing some research on the best team to beat these kids with, and I found out that the Pokemon battling scene is real deep, and I'm only at the tip of the iceberg.
I learned all about EV's, and IV's, and threat lists, but then I realized that these kids on my block have no idea what the word metagame means. So I was wondering, what would be considered the ultimate team if there were no threats? Most of these kids use their favorites and a few legendaries. I am also learning myself and I'd like to be able to test out a team and experience battling locally before I move onto WiFi/Netbattle.
So again, I'm asking what's the most common and efficient team found on NetBattle? I would not like to use ubers and legendaries. I know there aren't really standards yet with DP so I'd feel safer using tiers already tested and proven in the previous generation. I can pick up the Emerald version to get the Pokemon that aren't easy/not available to obtain in Pearl. I believe that if I bring such a team and pit it against kids, I'll rule the neighborhood.
I know this might be a lot to ask, but I'm hoping that I can find a team to start working on to take on the neighborhood. Thanks in advance.
