Keep in mind that shadow ball is a ghost attack which is PHYSICAL. Doesn't make sense but that's how ghost type attack works. (It looks so "special" to me... attacks like crunch on the other hand... err... *thinks of Tyranitar if dark attacks are physical* nevermind)
The best move is Rest. Clears up bad stat ailments and heals all HP. If you have chesto/mint berry (GSC) or double team or natural cure/early bird ability, usefulness is amazing. Then again, most Pokemon with early bird, people tend to prefer the other ability it can get. Or don't want to abuse Rest. And I forget if Natural Cure heals Sleep.
But all natural curers have recover or softboil anyway... recover and softboil is a lot better than rest if there's natural cure.
Rest will be your bane awkwardsilencer... You only need to battle for a day and you'll start to hate resting Skarms so much. Just after 6 turns of brick break that Skarmory is finally red, but then oh dear back to full hp in green! So fun... -_-;
Why even use Brick Break against a Skarmory? What happened to special attacking it to death?
If my natural cure Pokemon were paralyzed, I'd rather rest it up than use Recover. But that's just me. I hate paralysis. It's bad enough you can't move sometimes, it also reduces your speed.
well not all the time are you always in a favorable position that you have a special attacker out, or maybe you lost all of them already so all you got are brick breakers... it happens x_x;
I don't think any move is the best. Every one is different and STAB really makes a difference. I guess Earthquake on a ground pokemon or Shadow Ball on Shedinja...
I've tried Shadow Ball on Shedinja, but I always get pitted against Normal-types -- especially one particular egg-happy Normal-type. That's why I use Aerial Ace on Shedinja. It isn't as powerful, but with a Swords Dance it's decent enough.
And there's always the chance where that looks-so-happy-egg-Pokemon (but truly real evil deep inside) has toxic too... or switch to tyranitar or Skarmory/Weezing to take you out =/
For my planned set of Shedinja, I use both AA and Shadowball O.o; Protect/SD/AA/SB is what i'm roughly planning...
