"Mounting a Coordinator Assault!" Episode Discussion

Here is where you can discuss the prelude of the first Sinnoh Contest, along with the introduction of Dawn's own rival, Zoey, in "Mounting a Coordinator Assault!"

    My review to come forthwith.

(Sorry, Reyna. Just want to be on time, y'know.)

    Why.....

in God's name is Satoshi (I use the japanese name.) doing a contest? There's no point; Coordinators have no bearing on the combative or practical uses of their abilities.

I've always had a problem where Haruka or Shu being able to beat Satoshi. He's an experienced trainer in COMBAT. They are not, and him doing contests has no bearing on the training he truly wants to do. Can someone explain this to me?

I thought that Aipom was pretty good in the contest. Though he was even better in his practice battle against Piplup... And Zoey's Misdreavus is really cool, I sure hope we see more of it. I liked the whole introduction of ball capsules, it helps relate the anime to the games more. Though, alas...they still have the same judges, why must their comments be so lame?

Hopefully tomorrow the battles are pretty heated. Though the only pokemon we know is battling is Aipom, I just hope that Zoey pulls out her Misdreavus again.

Did you watch why he entered the contest? XD

Aipom spent forever making the appeal, and Ash didn't want it to go to waste :/ Granted he didn't use it, so eh...

Apparently, Zoey's dub voice is bootleg Tara Jayne. And we finally get potential lesbian drama...., awesome!

I missed 10% of the episode, did they mention May at all? If so, oh, I'll give such a rant... Heh.

Distracted by life at the moment, actual review later.

Lol!Indeed. No apparently Ho-Ho whipe his memory, they could have told her about her and her experiences, stupid writers!

A new shipping was born today. It's probably called Chokershipping, or something. Let this be known throughout the Pokemon fandom. Dawn 'n' Zoey foeva! Huzzah!

Did anyone catch Hikari's/Dawn's Theme, By Your Side, when she was talking with Piplup and Buneary? It was instrumental of course, but it was a nice touch to leave it in. Kudos to PUSA.

So, whos the two lovey dovey love birds???

Was my area the only one who got screwed in the middle of the Piplup and Pickachu training they cut to commericals and then went back with Ash and Dawn looking shocked at Apiom?

    It happened yesterday as well.

    Sure.

Oh yes, that makes sense, but the point still remains that Satoshi is not a contest trainer. He's a battle trainer, and has been doing that for at least two years by this point. There's no real reason for him to do contests since they don't really help his pokemon. Hell, in the game, it doesn't help your Pokemon. Battles do.

    Actually, it's already referred to as "Appealshipping" by the fandom ^^;;

But yes, the episode. I didn't get to see all of it (in English, at the very least) so my opinion seems unqualified in regard to the quality of the dub. I only got to hear Zoey's voice for, like, thirty seconds, so I can't tell whether or not I like it. It sounded alright, though, from what I heard.

But the episode plot was interesting enough. But Ash + Contests = too über for me. Let him have the gym battles, Dawn's got contests under control.

What's up with people not liking Ash entering contests? It's not like he'll act more feminem, start dressing up like a Cacturne, and crossdressing as Dawn. He won't win 5 ribbons, go to the Grand Festival and lose. He has the Pokemon League to do first :P, because he's a battler. It's all just for Aipom, nothing else.

I noticed something. In the begginning of the show, they showed Ash's appeal before the intro.

    . . . .

    Remarkable. . . .

I'll never understand the naming scheme that Pokemon takes for the ships, I never will.

Anyway, to answer this "episode preview," https://www.pkmncommunity.com/showthread.php?t=88396

Actually, I liked the change of pace with Ash attempting a Contest. After seeing May for the past few seasons, you'd think he'd be curious on it at least once, right? I agree that it isn't his shtick, but give the appreciation for the effort.

And Dawn is narrating the episode title again, I sense a trend. Hm...

Yes they do. May learned many things in battling from contests, and also learned things from Ash's battles for her contests...

    Spoiler:

Alright, I have seen this episode and of course, Nozomi or Zoey have amazing details. Now if it's that Nozomi english name is Zoey, which is similar to Tokyo Mew Mew Ichigo english name is Zoey, you can say that. But this episode and the next showed Jessie's worst disquise I ever seen.
