ive been thinking of a team for emerald and i need some advice/help, currently im trying to think of movesets to put on pokemon (i dont know whether or not they're going to be on my team...)

    Grumpig
    -Psychic
    -Swagger
    -Magic Coat
    -Psych Up

    Rikelectric
-Extreme Speed (if he can even learn it)
    -Thunder
    -Rain Dance
    -Howl

    Magneton
    -Zap Cannon
    -Lock-On
    -Confuse Ray
    -Iron Defense???

    Starmie
    -Rain Dance
    -Surf
    -Thunder
    -Psychic

    will any of these work?

Your Grumpig set would work to an extent, it will have trouble with Dark's though.
You could consider Subpunching Grumpig, since it learns Sub on it's own, Sub/Focus Punch/Psychic/HP Fire.

Manectric doesn't learn Extremespeed I'm afraid, and Rain Dancing isn't his specialty anyway, consider Thunderbolt/Crunch/Quick Attack/HP Ice if possible.

Magneton.. Yours won't work, try Thunderbolt/Metal Sound/Thunder Wave/HP Ice or HP Grass if possible, otherwise try Toxic, it can't get Toxic'd back by Synchronizers by the way :P

For Starmie, I personally like this: Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Recover/Toxic or Surf or Psychic.
It loses out to hving dual STAB, but Boltbeam covers more than Surf and Psychic.

What he said. And starmie is just bolt/beam/surf/phychic sweeper, and will be good at tearing apart teams. :P

I personally think Starmie needs Recover, which is why I like Toxic aswell, you can sweep and stall at the same time, which is nice, and trust me, Starmie can still sweep with Boltbeam.

    sounds interesting, sweepstalling :P.

i dont use HP moves, becuase first of all, i need to know my pokemon's EVs, which i dont know how to calculate. i know how to calculate the Hidden Power thing though. but for now, it's just too unpredictable for me

with starmie, i would go all out on sp.atk ev's and do psychic/thunderbolt/surf/ice beam. it's a great special sweeper. otherwise, do thunderbolt/icebeam/recover/(possibly)rapidspin for spikes and stuff like that or maybe toxic.

On Mangneton, Thunder Wave+Thunder Bolt > Lock On+Zap Cannon. It takes up the same number of slots, has the same effect after two turns, then the user is free to dish out Bolts each turn. :)

Grumpig looks neat, though it dies to Houndoom, and his dark pals.

Starmie works nice with Surf/Psychic/Thunderbolt/Recover. You're only left vulnerable to pure dragons (lato@s?), but you score more SE hits overall.

    Starmie @ petaya
    ~Ice Beam
    ~T-Bolt
    ~Surf
    ~Recover

this thing is a CB counter

EQ from mence drops you into the red zone which activates the petaya berry, then you OHKO it with Ice Beam. It allows for nice switch ins. Make sure you use max speed, max SpAtk for this one.
