So you are looking at the proud owner of a foil Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. I went to a prerelease yesterday for NPH (Went 2-2, opened a garbage pool with a Koth in it. Koth doesn't just automatically mean you win, keep in mind. I had to put 2 of the 5/4 trampler for 4GPGP in, and I was blue/red. It was just that bad.), and in the prize pool, one of my friends cracked a foil Jin-Gitaxias. I gave him a Wurmcoil Engine and a Chimeric Mass for it.
He's easily my favorite of the cycle as far as an EDH deck goes. Ever since the spoiler first got leaked, I've been thinking of a deck to make for him. Here's what I came up with:
-General-
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur
-Legendary Creatures-
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
Memnarch
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
Venser, Shaper Savant
-Creatures-
Consecrated Sphinx
Blightsteel Colossus
Draining Whelk
Duplicant
Etherium Sculptor
Glen Elendra Archmage
Grand Architect
Master Transmuter
Mycosynth Golem
Phyrexian Metalmorph
Scarecrone
Steel Hellkite
Treasure Mage
Trinket Mage
Vedalken Archmage
-Sorceries-
All is Dust
Bribery
Fabricate
-Instants-
Cancel
Counterspell
Cryptic Command
Fact or Fiction
Forbid
Force of Will
Hinder
Mana Drain
Spin Into Myth
-Enchantments-
Future Sight
Rhystic Study
Treachery
-Planeswalkers-
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Tezzeret, the Seeker
-Artifacts-
Caged Sun
Crucible of Worlds
Darksteel Forge
Dreamstone Hedron
Everflowing Chalice
Expedition Map
Extraplanar Lens
Gauntlet of Power
Gilded Lotus
Grim Monolith
Lightning Greaves
Mana Crypt
Mana Vault
Mindslaver
Nevinnyral's Disk
Oblivion Stone
Pithing Needle
Relic of Progenitus
Sol Ring
Sword of Feast and Famine
Sword of Fire and Ice
Sword of Light and Shadow
Vedalken Orrery
-Lands-
Academy Ruins
Ancient Tomb
Darksteel Citadel
Eye of Ugin
Flooded Strand
Maze of Ith
Minamo, School at Water's Edge
Miren, the Moaning Well
Misty Rainforest
Mouth of Ronom
Mystifying Maze
Phyrexia's Core
Polluted Delta
Reliquary Tower
Seat of the Synod
Scalding Tarn
Scrying Sheets
Strip Mine
Temple of the False God
Tolaria West
-100 Snow-Covered Island
Gatherer links to the cards will come later.
The overall goal of the deck is to set up any of your kill conditions. Jin is a great draw engine that forces your opponents to topdeck answers to him, while helping you set up your kill with either of your Eldrazi titans or Blightsteel Colossus.
Disk/Forge is one of my favorite EDH combos and it makes its appearance here to help make sure the board stays clear of any opposition. Memnarch supports the combo by protecting Jin and your Eldrazi from impending doom.
I initially had Planar Portal and Unwinding Clock in the deck (mostly because I own an Unwinding Clock; I literally own about 10 of these cards, snow basics included), but took the engine out because I felt the deck had enough gas in it that it could win without it.
Let me know what you think! =)
