Oh, such a silly archetype. I've grown to love you, Primeape.
This list represents my breakup from Venser and my concurrent marriage to Primeval Titan. Jacob Van Lunen taught me that Precursor Golem is better with Master Transmuter, anyway.
-22- Creatures
-4- Joraga Treespeaker
-4- Lotus Cobra
-4- Overgrown Battlement
-4- Primeval Titan
-2-Girls on my deck when I pretty boy swag Frost Titan
-1- Wurmcoil Engine
-2- Avenger of Zendikar
-1- Lorthos, the Tidemaker
-14- Other Spells
-4- Everflowing Chalice
-4- Explore
-4- Growth Spasm
-2- Rite of Replication
-24- Lands
-4- Misty Rainforest
-4- Verdant Catacombs
-4- Tectonic Edge
-8- Forest
-4- Island
-15- Sideboard
-3- Flashfreeze
-2- Negate
-2- Roil Elemental
-2- Summoning Trap
-1- Wurmcoil Engine
-1- Volition Reins
-2- Pelakka Wurm
-2- Terastodon
Techy, I know.
Basically, this is a testing period for me. I want to dip into the untapped potential of jank niche cards like Lorthos, Roil Elemental, and Rite of Replication, cards that are all very viable with Titans in the format.
The deck's line of play is simple; accelerate into turn 4 (3 if Treespeaker doesn't die) Titan, ramp into fatties, win. The deck on paper seems to have trouble staying stable, because I really want turn 3 Titan, so I might have to cut the Cobras for Birds, though I don't know if they're even that much of a faster accelerant. I'm doing testing this week to figure it out, so...yeah.
Lorthos, to me, is pretty much Frost Titan on steroids. It costs two more mana and you need to untap with it -- insta-jank for most -- but you need to untap with Baneslayer Angel to get value out of her, too. Plus, with the format so dry of removal for fat creatures (instead relying on Mark of Mutiny to do the dirty work; NICE 8 MANA BRO), it's a comfortable niche for the legendary octopus to make a splash.
Growth Spasm is so much better than Cultivate it isn't funny. It's your cup of tea as to what you'd rather try, but I really like Spasm as an instant gratification; the two mana it nets you really add up when you're attempting turn 3 Titan, and allow for superior acceleration to Cultivate. I can see why many would run Cultivate, however.
Rite of Replication has just been made instantly awesome now that Titans are so rampant. Imagine kicking it on a Wurmcoil Engine against aggro, on just in general on Frost Titan, Primeval Titan, or Avenger of Zendikar. Kick it on AoZ, then draw into a second, kick it on Primeval Titan, attack with a bunch of 62+-power Plant tokens? Sounds good to me. It's also great in ramp mirrors, when they outramp you and you go ahead and cast your 4-mana Primeval Titan.
Roil Elemental is a pretty fun card against monogreen. Basically, if they don't cast Ulamog, they lose to it. Nice Eldrazi / Ezuri bro, hope you don't mind. It's also silly with Primeval Titan in concert.
My metagame has a lot of red, a lot of control, and a lot of ramp, so my sideboard is tuned accordingly.
Let me know what you think! =D
