    Im not sure if this was said before but....Mudkip was the worst handled starter ever... it should not have been given to Brock for may reasons one of which is the most important is that Brock specializes in rock pokemon....so giving it to him was pretty bad writting.
    also i feel that mudkip should have been given to ash, it has that ash feeling and would have made a better addition then corpfish (not taking anything away from cropfish) but it just seems like an ash pokemon just like treeco was. so he could've had a swampert and a sceptile....what you guys think
     
    Well I don't agree with much of this post at all...
    Brock's dream is to be a master breeder (Ew...) not to stay as a rock type gym leader, so hes never gonna acomplish that with only rock type pokemon is he? Giving Ash the mudkip wouldn't really be great if you ask me because giving each main character a starter gave more of a variety of episodes that didn't just revolve around Ash and brought out other characters personalities and what they are like with different pokemon!
     
    Mudkip should've been given to anyone but Brock. Most Pokémon that he gets are given a lot of screen time unless they're in there for a gag (Happiny, Croagunk) and he isn't allowed to showcase his Pokémon very often. I would've preferred Max keeping it as a pet than Brock having it.
     
    ya but Mudkip had such little screen time and it would've given ash a good water starter (finally) and would've promoted mudkip much better with ash whereas with Brock it barley came out and did hardly anything...Ash should've had mudkip and treecko in that series
     
    Even if Ash got Mudkip, it wouldn't have evolved. If you haven't noticed, all of Ash's main water-types never have evolved. Plus, Corphish fits Ash because it's a crustacean like Kingler. Ash is usually consistent with his Pokemon. (Crustaceans, turtles, primates, etc.)

    I'm a bit disappointed with how Brock is handled in general. They have all those fillers to actually do something with him. Now it appears they're writing him off the show, perhaps because he's not well liked. The reason most people don't like him is because of his extremely old flirting gag, and the fact that he never does anything. How long has it been since Brock has gotten a new Pokemon?

    ^ It's been three sad years since that's when Happiny hatched in DP38. So yeah, his team hasn't changed since 2007. I don't think I'm forgetting anyone.
     
    Mudkip is a specialised ground/water type pokemon and I mean after 10 years of viewing it is a nice to see a bit of difference, rock, fire types seems to suit him, a water ground isn't too bad.

    ...Haha?... Well still, I agree Ash could have owned Mudkip instead. And of course I don't think it should've evolved either. Everyone wanted moar of the Mudkip Cuteness <3
     
    While Mudkip is an awsome water pokemon I believe Corphish is better suited to Ash because Ash always has atleast one stupid pokemon. (Not that I dont like Corphish)
