    -Neverused Challenge-

    Don't understand?
To compete in this challenge, you must choose exactly SIX (6) Pokémon from the list of Pokémon right *smogon.com link removed*, and then you must take those 6 Pokémon through KANTO, JOHTO, HOENN, and SINNOH. Then you are claimed a champion.

This is ment to encourage how great the never used Pokémon really are. Medicham, Delcatty, Dewgong, and Politoed can really be great - all you have to do is come to know them.

    Options
KANTO: Pokémon Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, FireRed, or LeafGreen
JOHTO: Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold or SoulSilver
HOENN: Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald
SINNOH: Pokémon Diamond, Pearl or Platinum.

You must complete any 1 of each region to complete this challenge. You have to beat KANTO, JOHTO, HOENN, and SINNOH to win.

    Rules
You must have your Pokémon before you battle the first gym. You can use AR/Gameshark to get Pokémon from Level 1 to 5 ONLY. You may also hatch eggs - do whatever it takes to get as many Pokémon possible before you get to the first gym!
The game ends... ...In R/B/G/Y when you defeat the E4. ...InFR/LG when you defeat the E4 for the 2nd time. ...In G/S/C/HG/SS when you defeat RED. ...In R/S when you defeat the E4. ...In E when you defeat Steven after the E4. ...In D/P when you defeat the E4. ...In PT when you defeat the E4 for the 2nd time.
Legendaries. You may use them if they are in the NU section of *smogon.com link removed*.

    Example
    Character Name: Katie
Game Version: Pokémon Red to Gold to Ruby to Diamond
Chosen Pokémon: Wailord, Rampardos, Shuckle, Glaceon, Probopass, Electrode
Comments: I will be either using Egg/AR to get LV1 to 5 Pokémon right off the bat.

    Application Form
Character Name: What you're name is during the game.
Game Version: Which games you will be using.
Chosen Pokémon: Which NU Pokémon you choose - from *smogon.com link removed**smogon.com link removed*Comments: Anything else you want to say.

Thanks for joing! Anyway, we could really use some great banners, please! Thanks!

So, the Pokemon have to be NU in DPPt, not in their own generation (RBY and GSC don't even have a NU tier on Smogon apparently)? I'm asking this because there are Pokemon like Charizard or Medicham, that got worse throughout the generations.
And, looking at the example team... Would that mean that Red would have to be Solo'd with Electrode?

So, since there are no more unclear things here:

    Character Name:
    Don't know yet, something random

Game Version: Leaf Green, Crystal, Sapphire, Diamond
Chosen Pokémon: Raticate, Vileplume, Crawdaunt, Rapidash, Venomoth, Noctowl*smogon.com link removed*Comments: I will hack for them on the first route, except for Crystal where I will probably trade Oddish, Ponyta and Venonat.

    Update:

    -Leaf Green Version-
    - Chose Squirtle
    - Beat Rival
    - Did Oak's Parcel quest
    - Caught Oddish, Ponyta, Venonat, Hoothoot and Corphish, all with more or less random natures (Rattata is still missing since there's no need to hack for it)
    - Deposited Squirtle
    - Saved

    Same as Hoothoot.

    Update 2:

    -Leaf Green Version-
    - Leveled my Pokemon, caught a Rattata
    - Beat Rival, very close battle. Luckily his Bulbasaur did not use Leech Seed against my Ponyta.
    - Passed Viridian Forest, Venonat was my MVP here since it could beat Weedle without getting poisoned.
    - Beat Brock. Hail Oddish.
    - Mt.Moon was hard. Twice I almost lost. Once I barely beat a Magnemite with a Tail Whip+Supersonic combo, another time, a Rattata killed my entire team with Hyper Fang, but my last Pokemon, Oddish, beat it and a Zubat that came after it.
    - Beat Misty. Took me 4 or 5 attempts because I'm underleveled and had bad luck. My plan to kill Staryu with Oddish, and then putting Starmie asleep, Growling it down with Hoothoot so Swift would not kill Oddish anymore as easy as without Growl and then killing it with Oddish got always ruined by Hax. Sleep Powder missed (most common one), Starmie woke up early, Starmie critted, Water Pulse confused, stuff like that.
    - Saved

    Oddish / Oddish m Lv.20 @ /

    Quiet Nature / Keen Eye

    Mild Nature / Hyper Cutter
    - Water Pulse

Definetely one of the best, but because I let Oddish kill all the Geodudes and Sandshrews because Oddish was the only one that could beat Misty, Corphish's level is not more most of the rest of my team.

Wants Hyper Fang. I think when it gets one more level and learns it, it should have similar qualities to Oddish and Corphish.

Ok, I had already already finished Rock Tunnel and lost to my rival because of his stupid Gyarados that thrashed my team to death. Contrary to my belief, I had NOT saved before, so I'm back at Surge now. I really want to punch somebody/thing now. I did not fight him yet, but at least I have already passed his gym maze.

Update: I did pretty much the same stuff again, in particular this means (stuff from before is also included):

    -Leaf Green Version-
    - Did Nugget Bridge and got SS.Ticket. Oddish evolved somewhere here.
    - Got to Vermilion
    - Did SS.Anne (Rattara evolved somewhere here), the rival battle was pretty close, but I forgot details
    - Got Cut and Flash, taught it to a Paras, which took Hoothoots place as dead weight until after Rock Tunnel
    - Saved after defeating Surge's underlings and beating his maze
    - Beat Surge. He was a lot harder than the first time, suddenly his Raichu had Double Team...
    - Rock Tunnel. The last time everyone died and Gloom did stuff on its own and his level which the rest of my team (well, with an exception) was finally equal to, this time I managed to keep my Pokemon's levels more balanced, but again Corphish got burned by the same trainer's charmander. This time I went healing then though
    - Arrived at Lavender, nicknamed my Pokemon (and all of my nicknames are lame, I'm running out of ideas)
    - Beat rival this time, but almost all his Pokemon caused my serious trouble. Pidgeotto almost killed Corphish because of a lucky crit. Ivysaur had Sleep Powder and it always hit. Ponyta could just barely defeat it. Gyarados was easier than before, this time my team was not that weakened and Raticate and something else (Ponyta I think) defeated it. Kadabra was the one that swept me this time, but Gloom and Venonat somehow defeated it. Venonat died in that process though. Then it was Gloom (and my useless underleveled Hoothoot) versus Growlithe, and thanks to Sleep Powder, Gloom won with 9 HP left in the end.

Of course Hoothoot does not suck because it lacks one leg, it sucks because the stats do. But I had no other idea...

    Fear Me! / Raticate f Lv.25 @ /
    Lonely Nature / Guts

60 Power Dig sucks, Hyper Fang still does more on most stuff it hits super-effective...

    Spoiler:

I almost forgot about this, but today I finally continued. I got to Celadon and beat Erika, and my Venonat evolved somewhere in her gym. Apart from that, my team is still pretty exactly much the same, so it's not worth posting it in detail.
...And I'm not in the mood for all the Team Rocket stuff now =/

Update: Did all the TR stuff, except for the rival fight and Giovanni. Went down to Fuschia, but I skipped a lot of trainers because my team was badly needing getting healed.
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:
Update: Caught Pokemon (currently I have 53, so just 7 are missing), beat Koga (Venomoth and Guts Raticate FTW) and grinded my entire team to level 43, which took me pretty long because I included Hoothoot.
    Spoiler:
Update: Did everything remaining in Kanto (no problems here) and beat Elite 4. I was underleveled, so they were anything but easy.
*bulbagarden.net image removed*Rapidash beat Dewgong and Cloyster with Solar Beam, but failed to beat Lapras. That thing and Slowbro killed most of my team then, in the end I had only Venomoth left, but it somehow managed to beat both Slowbro and Jynx.
*bulbagarden.net image removed*His first 3 Pokemon (Onix, H'chan, Machamp) were easy, but Because of 2 missed attacks, Hitmonlee was able to sweep most of my team. Vileplume stopped it though. The last Onix was no challenge.
*bulbagarden.net image removed*The only easy one. Venomoth completely devastated her team.
*bulbagarden.net image removed*Hyper Beam might be a stupid move, but it's still damn powerful, so Lance scored a lot of kills with it. For the first time in this Elite 4 beating, I had to use Revives during a battle. Strangely, the things that caused me the most problems were the Dragonairs...
*bulbagarden.net image removed*Pidgeot was no problem, and Alakazam preferred using Future Sight instead of Psychic. Rhydon was easy anyways, and Gyara also went down somehow. But then came Arcanine, which could beat any of my Pokemon when they were at half HP. Except for Rapidash, which could survive an E-Speed. It kept using E-Speed against Rapidash and Raticate, so I guessed these were the ones that outspeeded it. By revive-switching between them, I could let it run out of E-Speed PP quickly and also revive one other team members each time Rapidash was out. When Raticate could finally paralyze it, it still took like 10 rounds for me to finally get the needed parahax, but I got it and defeated Arcanine. Venusaur was not hard at all, it did not dare to attack Venomoth which killed it with Psychic.
    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    1st Hall Of Fame Team:
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:
    Spoiler:
Did Sevii Islands Quests. Got my entire team to level 65. Tried Elite 4, but struggled a lot with Agatha's Gengar (had to Revive stall it out of Psychics) and some of Lance's things, luckily they would sooner or later use Hyper Beam. I couldn't beat the Aerodactyl though (I hate Ancientpower so much...), and lost because of a misclick.
Update: On my second attempt I was prepared better. Half of Lorelei was swept by Crawdaunt, then it died. Rapidash swept the other half of her team. Burno was a lot easier, Crawdaunt, Noctowl, Raticate and Rapidash all played important roles here. Agatha was probably the one where there was the biggest difference. First, I had a lot of trouble with Misdreavus and the second Gengar, but this time her team went down rather easily. Noctowl did most of that work. Lance was again the biggest problem, but even though I had some more trouble with Kingdra this time, he was a lot easier. Aerodactyl could still beat my team with ease (I found out Rapidash could outspeed it, but it couldn't do any decent damage), but it didn't take too long, and it used Hyper Beam, I switched in Raticate and paralyzed it. Result: Aero was dead one or 2 rounds later. Finally.
Time for Blue. First, Raphidash OHKOd Hera with Bounce and heavily damaged Venusaur with Flamethrower, but died to an Earthquake. Good start for me. I went to Venomoth, he switched to Alakazam. Raticate could outspeed and paralyze it so Crawdaunt could go for the kill. Next was Tyranitar. Crawdaunt couldn't OHKO it, so it was up to Raticate to beat that thing again, but I still took more advantage than disadvantage from him having a Tyranitar, it set up an important Sandstorm. Important because Arcanine could again beat my team with ease, but this time it had Overheat instead of Flamethrower, so it seemed like there was hope... There wasn't, because it also had Aerial Ace. But something, I think Crawdaunt once took a hit from something and killed it because Sandstorm had already weakened it. Then, Venusaur came back into the battle, and while Venomoth walled it, I healed my team. When Venomoth died, Sun was up, so Rapidash could also get some nice damage on his last Pokemon, Gyarados, with Solarbeam. Then, I poisoned it with Venomoth which I had revived after Gyara using Hyper Beam on Rapidash and when it was weakened enough, killed it with Raticate's Body Slam before Blue could heal it.
So, I finally got again into the Hall of Fame, here's the PC version of it:

    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    Drug Abuse / Vileplume m Lv.65 @ Leftovers
    Brave Nature / Chlorophyll
    - Giga Drain
    - Sleep Powder
    - Petal Dance
    - Sludge Bomb

Plume was by far not as useful as it had been against the first Elite 4 round. It could survive a lot fewer attacks, and I had incredibly bad luck with Sleep Powder's accuracy.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    Snowmane / Rapidash f Lv.65 @ Charcoal
    Naive Nature / Run Away
    - Solarbeam
    - Bounce
    - Flamethrower

It was better this time. Especially against Blue and Lorelei, Rapidash was very useful. Sunny Beam still didn't really work though, the only time it did I didn't even set up Sun by myself...

    Mothra / Venomoth m Lv.65 @ Leftovers
    Serious Nature / Shield Dust
    - Secret Power

    Invalid / Noctowl m Lv.65 @ /
    Quiet Nature / Keen Eye
    - Hypnosis
    - Psychic
    - Dream Eater
    - Fly

It did suprisingly well. Even though it could take hits worse than Vileplume, it at least could sometimes take hits, unlike most of my team. Eating Dreams was always fun, not for Agatha and Bruno though.
    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    UnholyCrab / Crawdaunt f Lv.66 @ Mystic Water
    Mild Nature / Hyper Cutter
    - Surf
    - Brick Break
    - Crunch
    - Aerial Ace
Horribly slow. But since things were already paralyzed by Raticate most of the time, this thing was very good to clean stuff up.
    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    Fear Me! / Raticate f Lv.66 @ Magnet
    Lonely Nature / Guts
    - Ice Beam
    - Thunderbolt
    - Thunder Wave
    - Body Slam

M.V.P., definetely. And that just because of one move that's not really associated with Raticate: Thunder Wave. That move saved my butt so many times, it's not even funny.

On to Crystal, and here I will try not to make it a revive fest again. I will miss Crawdaunt in that gen, but at least a team of 5 is easier to train.

I'm sorry for such a long absence from this thread.

    @Skweetis 1
Then you can't play. Try a DS Emu.

    @mondays suck 1
I forgot that you can't evolve 2/3 gen Pokemon until you get to that gen! That's gonna really suck. Like mondays.

    @Nash Bandicoot 1
    You are accepted.

    @mattman342
You have to confirm you can use a DS Emu. If not you can't challenge.

    @mondays suck 2
How did you do that without Noctowl or Crawdaunt? That's crazy. Well either way, you're moving along pretty fast.

mmmm, my favorite kind of challenge. let's see how obnoxious my team can be...

    yeah, that's obnoxious enough.

Started Crystal, and the beginning was pretty similar to Leaf Green's beginning. Again, I caught my team, deposited my starter (Chikorita this time), got my first badge, and just arrived at the second badge's town with Oddish being my highest Pokemon because of a cave. Not as much above the rest as in LG though. It still looking pretty familiar though.

Team (this time I caught them in a different order, but the same old boring nicknames will stay. Because inventing new ones would be work.)

    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    Mothra / Venonat f Lv.12 @ /
    - Tackle
    - Disable
    - Swift
    - Supersonic

Being as strong as Hoothoot on the offense and as Rattata or Ponyta on the defense, Venonat has to rely on different strategies then pure force to win. This thing needs some support to work, but now with Swift it should get better.
    [PokeCommunity.com] Multi-Gen NU Challenge

    Drug Abuse / Oddish m Lv.14 @ Miracle Seed
    - Absorb
    - Sweet Scent
    - Poison Powder
    - /
In every Pokemon game, early on everything is full of Geodudes. Thus, Oddish will always be overleveled early on. But Absorb isn't evrthing it can, even Sweet Scent has already seen use, to support Venonat's Supersonic.

    Peck
    Swords Dance
    Agility
    Fury Attack

    Update:
    - Beat team rocket in Slowpoke Well.
    - Beat Bugsy. Ponyta learned Ember after killing the Metapod so the rest was easy, even Scyther.
    - Beat rival, the Quilava was pretty hard to beat since I lack my Water type here.
    - Goldenrod stuff: Beat all trainers around and got the radio
    - Grinded my team to level 21 (where they still are), since I can't hope to beat Whitney with level 16 Pokemon.
    - Beat Whitney without even losing one Pokemon (Gloom was at 1 HP though, and Noctowl (Mud Slap ftw) was also almost dead)
    - Already got the Leaf Stone call, but of course I am not going to evolve Gloom yet.
    - Saved in front of Sudowoodo
    More Update:
    - Got Dig, Got Charcoal, got the Leafstone, got the Squirtle-bottle (I had forgotten it before)
    - Beat Sudo
    - Did Ecruteak and Olivine stuff, except for Morty
    - caught a Krabby which will serve as a slave.
    - Grinded my team to 31 so I can have Venomoth
    - Got me some Return TMs
    - Beat Morty with only Raticate's Dig without any problems

Team (now taking less space again, these huge pictures are suited for 1 or 2 Pokemon runs, not such big teams.)
    :t020:Fear Me! / Raticate m Lv.31 @ /
    - Dig
    - Shadow Ball
    - Quick Attack
    - Return

I didn't get many TMs get (just noticed I forgot to get Dig by the way), so standard moveset for this up to now. Great against Miltank, I would have never beaten it without losses if it wouldn't be for Hyper Fang.
Now this has the best moveset of all my Pokemon, being able to hit anything but Skarmory neutral. Current MVP.

    :t164:Invalid / Noctowl f Lv.31 @ Sharp Beak
    - Hypnosis
    - Return
    - Peck
    - Mud Slap

I think I already said it, but Mud Slap is what makes this my current MVP. Quite a surprise after it sucked in LG that much.
Noctowl is currently residing in the lower quality levels of my team, probably because of Hypnosis being so unreliable. It should get better again when it finally gets a Psychic-type move.

    :t077:Snowmane / Ponyta m Lv.31 @ Charcoal
    - Headbutt
    - Return
    - Swagger
    - Ember
Not really good, not really bad. But I see a problem with Flamethrower being available only after the Elite 4. And I forgot to get the Charcoal.
I never used Swagger before to be honest, but I think if used carefully it should work better than any other confusing move.

    :t049:Mothra / Venomoth f Lv.31 @ Quick Claw
    - Confusion
    - Leech Life
    - Swift
    - Poison Powder

Like in my last Update, Venonat is still my LVP up to now. Which means I have to overlevel this to get Venomoth early which will make this thing stop sucking.
Not used as Venomoth yet, so I will have to see.

    :t044:Drug Abuse / Gloom m Lv.31 @ Miracle Seed
    - Absorb
    - Acid
    - Poison Powder
    - Sleep Powder
For some reason I kept Sweet Scent instead of Stun Spore. Whatever, I will get Acid soon anyways.
Looking at its moveset, it seems like I will be using Petal Dance again as my main Grass type move. Giga Drain with its 5 PP just is not worth a moveslot.
