They were campaigns to get young people to vote in the elections, and hence try to overthrow Bush, since young people are more likely to be liberal and/or progressive. This is the problem with optional voting. In Australia, if you're 18 or older you must vote, and there are fines if you don't.

I never buy into those things, I am going to vote based on the facts for the 08 election, which is the first one I will ever be voting in. Anyway, I only have one song from the Rock Against Bush albums, and that is a song Eliana told me about...Favorite Son by Green Day and when I changed comptuers I lost it and now I can't find it again. (Too lazy to buy it off itunes XD)

It's a matter of what politics are best for the country. I don't think I could ever be right-wing though. ._. Australian politics is far too conservative, our two major parties are basically exactly the same. I won't be able to vote next year though ._. I won't be quite 18 yet. So I have to wait until I'm, like, 20 to vote. ;_;

Well I only have to wait two. Since I am 18 this year so I will be 20 when I get to vote. I didn't really have a chance to follow the last election that much, but since I am voting in the next one, I am gonna be totally informed. Anyway...I was looking at future releases and some really good albums are coming out soon:

Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Goo Goo Dolls
Anti-Flag (According to Eli)
Radiohead (sometime this year)
 
There's a whole list of good stuff coming out this year. Was it FFTL who has an album out this week? I think I saw it in Missing Link (yeah, we get stuff earlier here) but was out of cash due to my Yellowcard collecting habits :D

My way of response was aimed to make you stfu as I didn't care nor did I read whatever the funk you wrote up there. It is clear that you aren't intelligent enough to understand that I was merely aiming at Eli for the sake of argument, and not that I really wanted to discuss the matter.

Oh, and btw, it's kinda sad that you waited for me to get banned before you actually replied... as far as my knowledge goes, that is the definition of being a coward. ;D

Hoping the GD album will be great...as Eli said Anti Flag album wuz great!

I know you don't like them, but I do hope FOB does comeout with a new album. I don't care for their lyrics, but I am a fan of their sound...even if they do suck live...I like their studio recordings.
 
The only song I like from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers is "Californation" and that about it.
 
The Chili Peppers are definately one of the greats from the 90s

I happened to be watching SNL last weekend and they had Death Cab for Cutie on. Im all about the Indie rock, but these lyrics from their second song they played really struck me:

Cause at night the sun in retreat,
Made the skyline look like crooked teeth,
In the mouth of a man who was devouring, us both.

Such a great image.
 
Great lyrics attract me and that's why I think Death Cab for Cutie is a cool band nowadays... surely better than some other band with shallow lyrics...>>

Otherwise, the person who could actually make pretty great lyrics is Bob Dylan. Though he can't really sing, his lyrics are just phenomenal! ^^
