Okay so I work at a movie/music store, (this might end up being a late night rant, be aware of musical opinion :P). And recent releases of music items (I work on the music floor), are not boding well...

I've never really listened to Green Day (though everyone keeps saying American Idiot is their best album), but their latest album honestly stinks... To me it sounds too generic and boring... That like anyone could have come up with it. It would be the type of album I'd expect at a band in high school...

    In about 8 hours, I will be working and selling people various new releases... One of which is Eminem's latest album... Relapse. *why* with the rap people? ;_;

Which makes me perhaps considering to take August 25th off, when Souljaboy's newest album is released, for the sake of my own sanity...

What I am really glad about though is that, one of my supervisors is really into electronica, so she puts a lot of the new stuff on the store's playlist, so I get to enjoy the good beats of house, trance, and other genres amalgamated into electronic.

So, anyone else have music qualms? :P

(I'm assuming this falls under general chat? But as the majority of the posts are PC related Oo lol, well at least by posting this here, I can assume there would be less flameyness in terms of musical opinion? *hides behind music sheets*)

don't even get ME started on the state of most of today's music (if you can even call it that)

I say, stop buying it ALL. period.

Too true. I thought Know Your Enemy was a forgotten track off of American Idiot... :/

On another note, does anyone else hate the constant overuse of Auto-tune in every new song these days? I mean, it's okay sometimes, but in every song? Come on. Come onnnn.

You can even be lazy in your singing and Auto-Tune will cover it right up. :/

Hmmm never heard of it... But like lip-syncing, if artists are using that more often... then that just goes to show they have no talent, and they are just milking off their own image. Though 99% of rap is image...

People call me immature and childish, but I love rap. So yeah, if I were you, I would take August 25 off. Because I know me and my friends will be there XD

    lol ;)

Though I'm not stuck to 1 genre like some people (though I do like of what some comes out of the electronica and OST genre). But I like random bands from other genres.

But yeah, rap and country scares me XD

And for that matter, I don't mind have 1 song on repeat. Did that with Chris Cornelle's "You know my name" among other songs.

Since I work 5 days a week, taking only the 25th off will at least keep my 5 day schedule XD. Of course for measure, I could book off the 24th, so I wouldn't have to help and put the CDs on the racks.

Which reminds me, one of my co-workers was putting away the newest Green Day album, and commented, saying that she felt dirty just by touching the CDs... lol

I understand that music is an art form, and just like visual art not everyone is going to like it, get it, or even consider some of it as such. With this said it does not mean I don't have any qualms calling some music complete garbage, like most new music is. I think media is responsible for the high amounts of degrading quality of music. I've noticed some of my favourite bands will go from indies to major, stop making good music, and only focus on money and selling more records. An example would be with Green Day, I used to love their music up until the album "Warning". With their newest album, I won't even bother with it because I know how terrible it is. I am really into the indies/underground music scenes because for me, they have yet to be corrupted by the media whore.

*sigh* So you're also one of those many people that seem to despise country? It always seems like everyone either hates country, rap, or both. I don't really have a clue as to why everyone hates country like they do. Then again, that may be because I was raised listening to it. What exactly is it about the songs that makes you all hate it?

Now playing: Zac Brown Band - Chicken Fried via FoxyTunes
That song right there may sound incredibly stupid to you, but it isn't. A lot of country songs have deep meanings in the lyrics. I can't really describe the meaning of that song (I've always been terrible at doing that), but it's really good.

Country and Pop are about the only two genres I listen to.

Well >.> I know I am about to spew out generalizations, but hey, I suppose it is to be expected (?) lol

That they sing about their cadillac or about something with the wife. And it always has that same trade mark country twang tuney thing (for lack of better words Oo).

I'd more than likely assume their are plenty songs out there that are better than the afformentioned, but it would not interest me likewise.

Ironically, I live in a province where country is one of the most listened to. (or at least I heard that).

I had a feeling that's what you would say. <_<
It's generalizations like that which cause other people to hate country music. Nearly every song I've heard from each genre involves love in some way, whether it be a wife, husband, or whatever. You can't just say it's country that does that.

Not all country sounds the same, either. Just like not all rap, rock, pop, or whatever sounds the same. I've actually heard a few songs from every genre that I've listened to that I liked, including rap.

You'd think it would be popular here, with all of the Kentucky stereotypes, but it doesn't appear to be. Most people that I know hate it.

    I like most music.

Rock, pop, country, alternative, and even a few rap songs.
I'm open to any music if I can understand what they're saying and the beat is good.

    It's all about the beat.

I've never really listened to Green Day (though everyone keeps saying American Idiot is their best album)
...Who ever told you that is a complete idiot. american Idiot was Green Day's worst album. They were pretty good up until American Idiot, they were by no means the best band ever, but they were alright. They were much better than the crap we have today. Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, All American Rejects, and essentially all rappers need to just go and jump off a cliff. FOB and P!ATD are complete crap. That's theo nly way I can put it. The Jonas Brothers are epic failure, no one else wanted to play with them so they started a family band. The Jonas Brothers are the Anti-Hanson of the new generation. Miley Cyrus has a nazily boy voice and promotes the idea that it is okay for girls to not like themselves and pretend to be someone they're not. Not to mention she is the leader of the "Prosti-tot" movement. All American Rejects first album was good, but their new stuff sucks. And rap is just musical failure, write a damn song about something other than sex, STDs, or "hoes".

I'm sorry, but this seems like more of some sort of failish troll thread then a rant. (Who the hell rants in the VIP forum anyway? Theres a thread for that y'know)
So yeah. No. Yes? Oh whatever just lose the game.
    Your a troll imo.

This, I can agree with. But...with a little less flames.

There are a couple good FOB songs, IMO. Dance, Dance is a fun party song and the Beat It cover wasn't half bad. There are a handful of good P!AtD songs as well, IMO. But to each his own, I suppose.

The Jonas Brothers are epic failure, no one else wanted to play with them so they started a family band.
I don't see anything wrong with a family band.

The Jonas Brothers are the Anti-Hanson of the new generation. Miley Cyrus has a nazily boy voice and promotes the idea that it is okay for girls to not like themselves and pretend to be someone they're not. Not to mention she is the leader of the "Prosti-tot" movement.
The two groups have a well-respected fanbase, but most people bash on them for being "child" groups. I'm not saying you are, I just felt like putting that out there. I myself don't have a liking for them, as well, but it's not for them being "child" groups.

All American Rejects first album was good, but their new stuff sucks.
    Again, to each his own.

And rap is just musical failure, write a damn song about something other than sex, STDs, or "hoes"
There's plenty of songs without any of that. You're just going on stereotypes about the rap community.

Idk why I felt the need to pick your post apart, but I did. So no offense. xD

That's quite alright. As you said, to each his own. I just haven't had a chance to rant about music in too long so it built up a bit more than usual XD

And you're right, there is nothing wrong with a family band. I did in fact like Hanson back in the day. The Jackson 5 was fun as well. I just can't stand the Jonas Brothers.

    lol XD

And not to be sexist or anything, but marriage tends to kill bands too *cough* Linkin Park * cough* among others XD

    Myself, I like Disturbed.

    But yeah... Disney:

    And just for unrelated kicks:

I thought that putting it in the other forum (other entertainment?) would end up in flames faster than a flame wheel (wooo Pokemon reference?) as there are quite a few more users. Here at least, I thought more of us are level headed ;) :P

We could make it less trollish, by debating the merits of music though XD (what makes music? etc)
