    Yes I purposely misspelled that.

Don't you hate how music is now? Pretty much you get one beat and a decent pick up line, throw in random words spoken really fast, and you've got a song. (Specifically, You Spin My Head Right Round - Flo Rida)

Or, you can just make up words (Yahh - Soulja Boy)

And don't go, oh, that's just rap, EVERYONE DOES IT! Listen to any Hannah Montana song (But make sure you don't commit suicide), listen to Know Your Enemy (Green Day), listen to Sharpest Lives (MCR). You think you're paying for a 4 minute song... but how long is your song REALLY?

And the way iTunes handles intros! IDK if there are any maggots reading this, so I'll explain it. Slipknot, on their first album, had a song called (Sic). The track before it (named "the Barcode" by fans) is the same freaky noise repeated over with a sampled sentenced repeated, too. The thing goes on for about 0:35 minutes (Whereas the same kind of stuff would be passed off as rap, were it longer) with some minor alterations, like the voice speeding up. This intro, and ONLY this intro, is selling on itunes for $1.29. I could get a Mushroomhead 8 minute long song with the only repetitions being riffs and choruses for $0.99. That's less, for the idiots who can't figure it out.

    Top Offenses:

    Rock/Metal-
    Sharpest Lives (MCR)
    Chancre Sore (MRH)
    Know the Enemy (Green Day)
    Decadence (Disturbed)

    Rap/Pop-
    All of Hannah Montana
50 Cent, Soulja Boy, and anyone else who calls themselves a "Rapper."

    Feel free to add.

Whether you find it entertaining or not, this thread is best suited for Other Entertainment.

Well I listen to some of the newer music. I don't love rap, but every once in a while I'll take a good listen. Anyways for the most part I don't listen to mainstream, except some lady gaga XD For bands that are around now some that I like are Tegan and Sara, Ladyhawke, and The Flaming Lips. I know they are popular, but I wouldn't call them top of the line mainstream. Most of the time though I just listen to Oldies, Classic Rock, and Classical music.

Autumn, you like Lady Gaga?! :D

I like music today, I don't really mind. In my opinion, all the people who post here saying they don't like it one bit haven't even probably tried to enjoy it, and have probably given up on music after hearing one song. :P

Anti-pop culture is becoming pop culture.

The people who make those songs do it for the money and nothing else, don't blame them for making music that makes them money. I guarantee you that most of them don't honestly believe they're making good music, but it sells so they do it. It's the people who listen to the music, not the artists. If the people start making a strong push for quality music then mediocre music will die off. That's what I believe .

Well, yeah, with people like Soulja Boy making so much money there's no real motive to do better.

But you'd think someone would. I mean look at Machinima Artists, Brickfilm producers, ETC. Most people on youtube. Most of them know they aren't gonna get famous, they make their stuff to contribute to the community. You'd think some artists would do that.

I blame the labels, 'cuz I know alot of good bands that turned BS-y when they got signed.

For a second there, I thought you thought all music sux! Most of this new stuff sux! I don't agree that all the new stuff. Our Lady Peace is coming out with a new album. Screamo... if thats what you are talking about, I hate it. 80's power metal all the way!

lolz... listening to angel of death... 8-bit style. XD

    I never talked about screemo.

And I have. 8 bit all the way.

Search "Slipknot pulse of the maggots 8 bit"

some rap is good and all but other than that i hate it.
i listen more to nowdays classic rock like GNR, the police, van halen etc.
other things like metal, punk ah you know the rest

in my mind radio today needs to be like it was back then
where people sang into a microphone or play a killer solo that will forever be remembered.
not talk into a microphone and never let the guitarist have his solo!
cause today its either your a rapper or your a stand alone singer, no more bands, just a singer.
(note! and we need more rock and roll music!)

"Music is a beautiful ****ing thing to listen to." - Synyster Gates, Avenged Sevenfold

I have to agree with those words. I'll listen to music whether I like it or dislike it, just as long as the musician is doing what they want to, fulfilling their dreams. So, I'm really not going to say any musician sucks if they're in it for the music. Then, it doesn't matter what the hell they're playing, as long as they're fulfilling their dream.

Though, I'm not saying I'm going to listen to Disney music. The only musicians I dislike are ones who are in it for the money, and ones who used their fame as an actor/etc to gain recognition in the music career. If they didn't work to get to where they are now with music, then they're not worth the listen.

With that said, I'll listen to almost anything. Though, I do still have a top 3-
    1. Avenged Sevenfold
    2. Atreyu
    3. Papa Roach

lol, and I do have special spots for metalcore and hard rock.

    edit:
Really, I think liking of music all boils down to one persons opinion.

Without Music, there would be 0 Percent of good movies.
Try watching a movie without any sound/music and theres no suspense, action & humour.
also, the lyrics in MOST songs will be in sync with what you feel in your heart.

    Well, yes.
And I do have different standards with music and movies.

For example, I think that these repeditive BS-y songs can do well in movies.
but with a movie, you aren't focusing all your attention on the song.

So while repetitive lyrics are Ok with songs on soundtracks, I think, if you're taking the time to listen to just the song, and giving it that much attention, there should be a better standard. If you have a puppy that can catch peanuts, and a monkey that can throw them, that's great. But without the monkey, if your focus is just the puppy, you would probably expect more from the puppy, because it doesn't have the monkey to kind of spread your attention amongst the two.

Listen to game soundtracks (or some movie soundtracks, such as 300 or The Punisher (2002) that don't have lyrics). They sound great when your focus is the game/movie, but most are extremely repetitive and merely the same beat or riff repeated over. You wouldn't listen to most of that stuff on it's own.

So if the only addition is some repetitive lyrics, why listen to that?

    ~Rap....ok that sucks.
But why did you say Green Day?! They Rock!!!! And bring back painful memories but what the hell How are you diss Green Day!!!!

    Their newer songs.

I was watching SNL and they played "Know the enemy." Holy crap. I like most of their songs, but I found that to be crap, 'cuz it was pretty much the same lines repeated over and over again. Sure, they made minor alterations, but it was all the same riffs and sung the same way.

Also, and this is about to go up to the top, "Decadence" by Disturbed.

I like 'Know Your Enemy' personally. I like their new stuff. It's just more modern and more what people are into.......these days.
