My attempt to make an okay VGC´11 team (worked a bit over it!^^)

    First of all, hi!^^

I wanna participate in the VGC again this year...^^ But because I don´t quite have what people call "self-confidence" I think I need a bit of help this year!^^ For those who don´t know, these are the rules:

    Spoiler:

Since I´m not quite a competitive battle kind-of-guy, you can expect a lot of noobish questions or comments concerning EV training (I just can´t bring myself to ditch a Pokemon just because destiny didn´t want it to be perfect!^^) and besides, EV training seems boring to me, so I don´t even bother to!^^ But what you can expect of me in the competivie sector is: Knowledge of strategies and a bit over-average attack and Pokemon knowledge!^^ Oh, and a bit of competitive language and creativity and a medium knowledge of english Gen V Pokemon names (I´m german, you know so expect some minor mistakes in the english names...^^)... Last year, I participated in the VGC, too but my competitive-battle friend lent me his team idea because he wasn´t able to participate!^^ I found out one thing: Weather is totally my style!^^ After a bit of analysis of the new generation (and a bit of capturing for the Pokedex), I found out that Gen V is full of aggressive Pokemon with two options:

    1) Brutally offensive and fast
    2) Offensive and unbelievably slow

Because of my almost freakish love for Psychic pokemon, I decided for a straight-forward Trick Room team because, for my disappointment, a lot of the new psychics aren´t exactly what you´d call fast!^^ And that´s what lead to my current idea...^^ Well, sorry for the long intruduction, I just love to talk about stuff like that!^^ Here´s my team (still 30% finished and the Pokemon order is random, I´m gonna take care of that later!^^):

    Reuniclus Lv.50
    Ability: Magic Guard
    Item: Life Orb
    Attacks:
    -Focus Blast
    -Psyshock
    -Trick Room
    -Shadow Ball

My Trick Room set-up Pokemon, I guess!^^ Its defence stats are better than those of your average Psychic Pokemon, so I think it should be able to take one super effective hit and set up a Trick Room. Thanks to Magic Guard, the recoil of Life orb is a thing of the past and Reuniclus can get to abuse the effects without any worries about the HP loss!^^ The attacks speak for themselves: Focus Blast for Dark-types, Shadow Ball for the Ghosts and Psyshock for STAB reasons. I´m not sure whether I really wanna have changes on it, but maybe Clam Mind or Recover!^^

    Chandelure Lv.50
Item: not decided yet (any suggestions maybe?^^)
    Ability: Flash Fire

    Moves:
    -Shadow Ball
    -Flamethrower
    -Energy Ball
    -Trick Room/Calm Mind/Imprison/Will-O-Wisp

Chandelure is a bit slow and I kind of took a big liking to him, so I decided to go for him!^^ Again, his style is very offensive: Flamethrower and Shadow Ball for obvious STAB reasons and Energy Ball to get rid of Water and, more imporatntly, Ground and/or Rock-types!^^ Calm Mind is there to make him even better than he already is!^^ But after a bit of Battle Subway with him, I found Will-O-Wisp to be a good alternative for Calm Mind because it can make all those offensive-based Pokemon weaker and help Chandelure survive one or two turns longer!^^

    Conkeldurr Lv.50
    Item: Flame Orb
    Ability: Guts

    Attacks:
    -Mach Punch
    -Stone Edge
    -Revenge
    -Hammer Arm

This is my answer to the Dark-type threat that my team has to face!^^ It´s still existing in my head, but I think it´s a great solution to go for!^^ Mach Punch was a hint from my friend, and I think it´s a good one because Conkeldurr isn´t really a Ninjask if you get what I mean (And yep, I know it´s an egg move...) !^^ Stone Edge is to drive off the birds and the bugs, revenge to hit ghosts and Hammer Arm to make use of Trick Room!^^ Seems pretty good, doesn´t it?^^

For my fourth slot, I thought of a defensive supporter to make up the lack of defence this team brings. I had two candidates to fill up this slot but my competitive battle-friend had one suggestion for me that doesn´t sound bad at all, too!^^ After a bit of battling in the Battle Subway, I decided for the Pokemon my friend suggested, namely...

    ...Amoonguss Lv.50
    Ability: Effect Spore
    Item: Focus Sash
    Attacks:
    -Rage Powder
    -Spore
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Giga Drain

The main idea of it : Draw attention to you and make every attack go to him/her (with the difference that´s this one is bound to take at least two attacks) !^^ Spore is a very reliable status changing move, Sludge Bomb for sheer power and STAB and Giga Drain for a lil´bit of recovery!^^ My friend meant that offence is more important than defence when it comes to Trick Room and he´s got a point there!^^ Although I think he/she´s a little more egoistic than his pal Musharna...^^

I´d love to see one more suggestion for a sweeper or another good supporter for the sixth or maybe the fifth slot!^^ I can´t really think of something else right now, maybe I´m gonna get an idea later but I doubt I will because my I want my social life to fill up a bit more of my free time. If you put school life and other obligations on the pile, you get almost no free time, meaning no time to think of a new combo or a set or something like that!^^

And now for the weaknesses of my team: The first round is very important. If it goes wrong, I´m bound to lose. When my Trick Room fails, I´m gonna have a very hard time: My biggest fears are Hydreigon and Mienshao in the first round. Hydreigon is just a plain beast that has such a dark (xD) heart that it doesn´t even have any mercy with my awesome psychic pokes...^^ And Mienshao won´t leave any opportunity for a Fake Out unused... Some genies and Terrakion (+Whimsicott beat up and general Whimsicott support) are worrying me a bit, too...^^ On top of that are probably a lot of unconsidered weaknesses simply because my Gen V competitive knowledge is a bit... limited!^^ Well, I hope you guys can help me with my team and make it a bit better and stuff...^^ I´m gonna try my best to help you out and I´m gonna deepen my competitive knowledge as soon as I have the time to!^^

Yeah, that´s it from my side!^^ Thx in advance for all the constructive critisism!^^

Since the activity in my thread doesn't seem to be that high, I decided to put my thoughts on possible Pokemon for the 5th and 6th team slot in another post because I'm having confidence in my team as it is (any positive changes are still welcome, though!^^)!^^ My basic thoughts for my 5th and 6th slot are another supporter and another sweeper (offensive Pokemon, for those who don't know)!^^ For the supportive role, I thought of...
    1)Audino
    Item: Light Clay/Leftovers
    Ability: Healer
    Attacks:
    -Heal Pulse
    -Light Screen/Wish
    -Reflect
    -Return/Wish/Double Team

The main idea is to help out in any way possible: With Heal Pulse, the others are in best conditions all the time, Light Screen and Reflect weaken the enemy´s attacks and Wish is to be a bit egoistic so that Audino can help as long as possible!^^ Double Team ensures her well-being and Return can dish out some damage!^^ So it´s a bit of a Musharna-Amoonguss mix!^^ Seems good, too, doesn´t it?^^

I wanted my next Pokemon to be something like a defensive-offensive mix!^^ And I could only think of one Pokemon that could do that, and this Pokemon is called...

    ... Musharna!^^ Lv.50
    Item: Leftovers/Light Clay
    Ability: Synchronize

    Attacks:
    -Light Screen/Calm Mind/Trick Room
    -Reflect/Calm Mind/Trick Room
    -Hypnosis
    -Psychic/Dream Eater

I felt that there is a bit of a lack of defence in my team which is why I wanted to either include a Reflect or a Light Screen in her moveset!^^ Hypnosis is for supportive reasons and Dream Eater for HP Recovery and some sweeping but it doesn't seem too reliable to me because Hypnosis hardly hits...^^ Maybe that's why I wanna have Psychic instead of Calm Mind but then there's no recovery... Hmm, tough choice!^^

For another sweeper, I thought of...

    Escavalier Lv.50
    Item: Dunno
    Ability: Probably Shell Armor
    Attacks:
    -Megahorn
    -Iron Head
    -Aerial Ace?
    -Swords Dance/Poison Jab

An offensive moveset I came up with while looking at its movepool and stats!^^ Megahorn and Iron Head for STAB and Aerial Ace and Poison Jab just because I wanted to have some offensive moves on it and it doesn't seem to learn that much strong moves...^^ And Swords Dance for even more sweeping!^^

Wow, my first answer that is not from me!^^ Thanks for that!^^ And so many suggested Pokemon, too... That´s great!^^ I marked the Pokemon that I think that they might be good for my team!^^

    1) Vanniluxe, huh...^^ For some reason, I kinda like them and I wanted to train one anyways, so why not!^^ The moveset seems pretty stable, too but I might replace Ice Beam or Blizzard (I´m usually not that lucky when it comes to attacks like Blizzard!^^) with Light Cannon because I think it needs at least one offensive non-STAB move!^^ It isn´t too fast, either which is definitively a plus for my Trick Room!^^ Because of this and because of the really high usage of Hydreigon that I saw in other people´s teams, I´m gonna train one and test it out myself!^^ If it does well (which will most likely be the case, I guess...^^), it´s in the closer candidates´ list!^^

    2) This one caught my attention, too because it seems to fulfill every aspect I wanna have for another supporter!^^ Reflect, Light Screen, capable of taking some hits...^^ And Toxic can help dealing damage and might even help Conkeldurr (but if I go for that, then I´d probably replace Toxic with Will-O-Wisp)!^^ And Shadow Ball is Shadow Ball (STAB)!^^ Seems pretty good as a supporter!^^ For it, the "Vanilluxe rule" (xD) shall apply, too: I´m gonna train one and see how it does in some battles!^^ If it should do well, it´s in the closer candidates´ list!^^

And those are my thoughts concering the Pokemon that I thought that might suit in my team!^^ The others also seemed pretty good but I don´t think they´d be that good in my team...^^ But they´ll help me out in another way: They´ll extend my Pokemon knowledge which is the most important thing in the VGC!^^ Anyways, thanks for the nice suggestions!^^ I might come back on those for some other teams (most of them seemed pretty good for single teams (probably those with Earthquake and Explosion since they don´t seem like they like their allies with those attacks...^^), so that´s where some could come in handy...^^)!^^
