I wanted to have one of those pixel avatars you see on deviantart a lot, but since I couldn't find a free usable one that I liked I thought it would be better to just make it. So since these are my first there is a lot of room for improvement, I don't really know all the techniques but I guess I'll figure them out as I practice.:P

    Spoiler:

The octopus was my first one, I made it a few days ago, and the pufferfish and the rice ball are my latest ones which I made today.

Okay so I didn't know you had to have four pieces to start with, so I made one as soon as I could and added it. It's Hatsune Miku as you probably can see lol.

I like a nice animation. The octopus reminds me of the one from Finding Nemo.

Take note that there's a four item minimum for starting your own threads. If you can turn them sprites out as quickly as it seems then that shouldn't be a problem, but your thread will have to be closed if you don't add something in the near future (like maybe a week or so).

You are very good, and get use of hue-shifting and lines. Your shading is good, but the problem lies where you are using too many colors. Usually pixel art has a color restricion, and most pixel artists use color resrictions as a personal challenge to better themselves, or a gaming system only allows a certain amount of colors. You can limit your color count by adding contrast between colors and using blending techniques like dithering to make more use of your colors. But other than that, great art, and I hope I helped!

These are great, and very well done! I like the subtlety of the shading. It really adds a nice softness, especially on the rice ball. Very cute designs, too. I always like to see other kinds of pixel art posted here besides Pokemon sprites, so kudos to you for that, too :3

I love your hue shifting and shading. It's very smooth and overall your sprites are clean. The coloured outline is a bit to dark for the octopus imo. x:

Oooh omg oops I overread that in the rules :surprised:

I'll try and make a new one as soon as possible, I think I can make one today or tomorrow, I'm sorry <3

Thanks a lot, yeah the colours are a problem, you're right xD I was looking for some tutorials but I can't really seem to find one that explains techniques other than the basics, so I was hoping to get pointers and critiques here for improvement, so I'm going to work on what you said.

Thanks everyone for giving me tips and stuff! <3
