how can i make my sprites, More "Pokemon Style", is it the colours or the way they are drawn?
Both. it's also the way it was shaded. A pokemon sprite (if it;s FR/LG style, it';s 64x64) it has to fit a certain size. i don't know what it is for D/P as I've not really sprited in that style much but it won't be hugely above the 80s. The lighting, as shinjislover mentioned, usually comes from the top left corner, however you need to take into account the anatomy of the pokemon and how that would add shadows, along with outlining muscles. Your outline also needs shading. The palette you used was too subdued, pokemon usually have brighter, more vibrant colours. Your creature didn't fit any of the style criteria therefore it didn't need to follow a top left light source, it's important you don't get confused and posts telling you the incorrect info to the said sprite will only throw you down the wrong path.
Feel free to VM me about anything relating to pixel art, I'll gladly help you out with some terminology and critiques.
