My Opinion About "Member Of The Month"

    OK everyone, I am posting my opinion of MOTM.
    MOTM is globulously (obviously) where you vote for people. But IMO, it happens too fast. Pretty much on the day one MOTM closes, a new one opens making it very annoying and confusing.
    And this hardly gives people any time to say they came third or whatever is a catagory because it happens so fast that it's old news in about ten minutes. Now if we were to have MOTM every two months, this would give people enough time to not have old news in ten minutes.

    Just remember, this is my opinion.

    Dogbert, if we did it every 2 months, most people wouldn't get a chance to be MotM.
     
    I concur on 2 of the main points.But dont ya think 2 months would be too much fame for the winners?They would have too call it MOETM(member of every 2 months)
     
    Well maybe something like half a month before the next one. It would still in the frame of a month, it wouldn't give the member too much fame, and it wouldn't be too quick before the next one.
     
    But people already reserved making the MOTM thread for up to December 2005 already! I've been waiting a long time and I'm not going to not get to make the thread after how long I've waited

    Oh and here it The list I am talking about
     
    I don't think its such a bad idea spreading it out more, especially since this time the same list has been used without any changes at all, so you're voting exactly the same way with similar ppl that you did only (what can be) two weeks priorly.
    With the bookings, the problem is that some people become inactive or change their minds about creating a new list, so the bookings may not work out so well ^^;
     
    MoTM is technically - member of the MONTH.

    I don't see how this can be rushed, considering a MONTH is more likely up to thirty days or so. That gives you plenty of time to vote, and another one opens next month as well. A month doesn't go entirely fast, but just at a reasonable pace. People look up to the next one, and MoTM for every two months would just be plain slow. I think what you're trying to say, is perhaps some time between every MoTM?


    EDIT: Where did the subject go...I'm lost. If this is about changing some of the tTOPICs, yeah I'm up for that...o.o;
     
    I agree. We should keep MoTHM as Member of the Month.

    We know how to manage it as it is and changing it will make it slightly harder to manage and what if it was shorter? If it was shorter or longer, than what would be the fun in that? If it was a shorter time period, than it would like rushing the judges.
     
    Come on guys, don't put a damper on Dogbert's ideas just because you don't find them suitable to your liking. :\ Well, I think it's not that bad of an idea. For if we were to spread the MOTM around a bit, it surely would give members more time to "boast" a bit about what rank they had recieved in the contest. It would also cause less confusion for other members when viewing the threads as well.

    I see this as a good idea, IMO. I think it would help the forums be a bit more organized with the MOTM event. ^_^

    You're right Kelsey! It could be a Member of The Monthes! It could give people more time to vote, brag on about it, and it would make more suspense and take alot less work. It could be every two monthes!

    Even though it would mean less winners each year, it could work out fine if you ask me.
     
    Personally, I disagree with the idea, but if you don't get enough support to get it changed, you can always start your own MoeoM(member of every other month XD) thread. Not sure if it will get much attention, but it's a start :P
     
    well, after reading some of the posts, i guess yes, it would give members more time to gloat, so maybe it IS a good idea... also, we should someone to make frames for each winner *hintACMangahint XD*
     
    Maybe, like, something like ACManga said, to put in their siggy or make into an avvy/profile piccy... they do need gloating rights... otherwise that could damage their chances in the next one if they really do deserve it... hmm...
    I guess we could finish this year's and restart in February...
     
    Well would you need permission from the higher authorities to be the official frame maker? Nah, it's sort of optional.

    Aww dogbert, so so innocent...let me tell you a tale of the MOTM

    The idea you brought up to us now has been brought several times by different members in different ways since MOTM's were made. But, of course, no one listened. Now people vote for the same person every single month no matter whether they made no posts that month, did nothing, or overall had nothing to do with the category at all...

    This is what MOTM has become unfortunately...repetitive oldness...meh

    The only way we can change this is if EVERYONE cooperates...which would, in turn, take a miracle
     
    Well, I suppose putting what your rank was in your siggies would help...hmmmm....well, I am just messing myself up. XD OK, I read Dakota's post, and I believe he's right. Everyone just picks the same person over and over again, so I guess it is all just a matter of cooperation. Well, I shall rest my case until further notic. X3
