    After reading all these host's policies, and thinking about all the stupid things in them, I might decide to host my website on my own server. The only problem is I don't know how to set up a server or what software I need. And how I'd set up any extra stuff like PHP and PHPmyAdmin, MySQL, etc. But I have a computer and the internet acess to be on 24/7. Also I'd need some really good virus software, because of the server being on 24/7. And should I install linix or windows or what? (I think linix would be better though.) Or, if someone can find me host that I can get for less then (or around) $2.00 a month, around 100mb, 2 gig BW or something similar, has MySQL, PHPmyAdmin, email, unlimited subdomains, I can pay monthy, and upgrade to more when needed. WITH a policy that DOES not change WITHOUT notice.

    I've search for a web host if that is what you mean. All their policies change without notice I don't like that. Not at all.
     
    https://www.elixant.com has a deal for 100 MB space, 2 GB bandwidth for $10 a year. =)

    https://www.hostxg.com is also supposed to be good... quite a few sites are hosted under them in the Poke fandom.

    But as for servers, I've found RedHat Linux to be pretty good. It was easy enough to set up... and it even comes with Mozilla! :D


    But setting up a private server isn't all that good, because if you're sleeping and it crashes for some reason, you possibly won't find out for hours, and those hours are not good. =/

    And that makes me feel great. It would be fine, at least if they told me when the changed it. Plus there is no PHPmyAdmin, so can I install that or something?
    Also I couldn't find a policy or whatever at elixant. I need someone who isn't going to do that.

    I still need to know if I can put the PHPmyAdmin on there or will I have to manage doing all the database stuff manually?
     
    As far as I know, both HostXG and Elixant have phpMyAdmin. =/
     
    It's a common tool, most places have it if they have both CPanel and mySQL databases.
     
    400 Gig reseller? That's more of a dedicated server, isn't it? O_o
     
    I don't need 400 gigs! My hard drive isn't even half that big. In fact I barely need one. Actually even 100mb is fine. X_x I'm only testing my site with the server for now!
     
    Well I need a lot more info. Do you have a site or something where I can find this info? For example, policies? How will I pay? etc.

    If you have to then go through PM where we mods can't see... we're not supposed to turn a blind eye XD
