Okay so basically, I logged onto my HGSS game just recently because I was bored and had been kind of tired of Wi-Fi battling (which was the only thing I had really done recently), and so yeh. Basically I was already half way through the game with the following team, or this is what it will look like eventually:

    - Lapras
    - Typhlosion
    - Ampharos
    - Crobat

I am looking for 2 more pokemon to add to my team, and need help with the last two type coverage.

    Impt. Things To Know!

    • I am strongly considering Miltank as an addition to my team, as I really want her. Buttttt, I don't know if that will be possible with the lacking type coverage
    • I dont want any pokemon that I have to raise from extremely early level, like level 3 or something. I was going to put in a Herracross, but the highest level you encounter them at is level 3, and considering my pokemon are currently at level 30ish, I dont really feel like doing that.
    • I am currently just defeated the sixth gym leader, (and I am before encountering the Red Gyrados) to give you a feel for where I am in the game and what Pokemon are reasonable to catch.
    • Although I dont really care how late in the game I get the suggested pokemon, I would just like to have them before Elite Four
    • According to Marriland's Team Builder, the types I am currently missing coverage on are : Normal, Psychic, Ghost, and Dark.
Yes, hope this is enough information for you to help me on my Pokemon Journey! :D

You should get yourself a Machop or a Machoke at the Cliff Cave. They can cover Normal and Dark for you. Machop comes as high as level 19, whereas Machoke comes as high as level 22. If you can trade, you can also evolve your Machoke.

You can also catch a Steelix or a Misdreavus there. Steelix gets Crunch at level 46, and Misdreavus gets Psybeam, Payback, and Shadow Ball at levels 23, 32, and 37 respectively. But if you don't want to wait that long, you can teach it (or Crobat if you don't have Misdreavus) Shadow Ball by TM.

You can add one of the Johto Eeveelutions and a strong Normal Type.

    Espeon
    - Psychic
    - Shadow Ball
    - Swift (Replace with Grass Knot or Signal Beam if you can get them early)
    - Morning Sun

    Ursaring
    - Slash/ Strength
    - Shadow Claw
    - Hammer Arm
    - Swords Dance (Goldenrod Game Corner)

    Umbreon
    - Dark Pulse
    - Headbutt
    - Confuse Ray/ Sand Attack (replace with Psychic when you get it in Kanto)
    - Moonlight

    Tauros
    - Take Down/ Strength
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Payback/ (Whatever you want to put here)
    - Earthquake/ Iron Tail

You don't seem to have a dragon-type on your team, so I'd suggest getting one. n__n; My recommendation would be either Kingdra or Dragonite; personally, though, I'd most likely go with former, since you already have a flying-type Pokémon in Crobat. For moves, try Dragon Dance, Outrage, Rest, and Sleep Talk. If you like, you could replace Outrage with Waterfall, since it leaves you confused at the end.

I've gone ahead and obtained a Steelix. I rather like the addition to my team, as it gives me coverage (with the earth) against some types I didn't have coverage on before. This is not final as I have not trained it yet, but I think I'll be sticking with it unless a better option comes along.

I don't really want a dragon type seeing as it's not giving me all that coverage. I want more typing coverage

CURRENTLY, I'm debating between Mismagius, Espeon, and Miltank for my final pokemon. Any body got anything else.

Ooh, okay, fair enough. :] Off the ones you've listed, I'd say you should consider Milktank. It could take hits, hit back even harder, and recover itself whenever it wants with Milk Drink.

Miltank wouldn't be a hinderance on your team. For in-game purposes, it's effective enough. I wouldn't worry about having type coverage in-game considering you can give most Pokemon TMs that will counter a type you need coverage for (for example, Gyarados can learn Thunder despite not being Electric type.)
Rather, I would worry about having too many weaknesses to one type. If you end up with 3+ Pokemon weak to the same type, make sure you have at least two Pokemon with a move that's super-effective against that type.
For in game-teams, things don't have to be absolutely balanced and you can generally use the Pokemon you want without being miserably weak.

By the way, despite Mismagius technically being available before E4, keep in mind you have to play the waiting game with the Safari Zone in order to obtain a Misdreavus, then play in the Pokeathlon to obtain a Dusk Stone.

EDIT: what do you know! I found a miltank ands herracross in the daycare. I had wanted the big from the beginning but was just to lazy to train it, so this is a big plus! Also that saves me the trouble of catching a mil tank.
So we have the final six pokemon:
    - Typhlosion
    - ampharos
    - lapras
    - heracross
    - mil tank
    - crobat

But the work is far from over gentleman. I need MOVESETS! If somebody could provide me with a good move set and item to use with each pokemon (also where I can obtain item if you have the time) I would be forever in debt!

P.S sorry for any spelling mistakes I'm on my phone
