4th Gen My theory on shinies...

Why would you be unhappy? The first Pokemon you encounter being shiny seems hilariously fortunate to me. :P

He may mean by the time he didn't even have Pokéballs.

that happened to me and i didn't have pokeballs i was so mad i almost threw my ds against the wall.

i named my character cloud on silver, played for a ridiculously long time (pokemon was the thang back then) and never saw a shiny...

also you have damn good luck son.

IDK, I think its true, because I never find shinies when I name my character Wes, sometimes I start games with wierd names and find a few shinies, but i usually start with my name, and never find them.

if it was by name that was true some japanese programmer would have figured it out a long time ago and it would be all over the internet and there would be a FAQ on how to get all shinies. i think the chance is 1/8192. heres a website:

https://www.psypokes.com/lab/shiny.php

The chance of finding a shiny is always 1/8192 = 0.01220703125%. The only way to boost this chance is by chaining encounters with the PokeRadar, some method I won't even bother with, as I'm not interested in shinies, since they're usually the wrong nature.

Read the topic before you post, Source.

it might be true when i named my self sami i got a shiny gedude in emrald at the magma hq(or whatever it called) and in lg i named him sami agin what did i get another shiny geodude now i have 2 a male and a female all by me

Again, it's all random chance. There's no maybe about it.

If they got the number from somewhere then, y couldnt they change it?
