hey, this is my very first site called PokemonAustralia101. I havn't got too much experience with websites so I'm looking for advice.

    Layout
Your layout, if not a free template, certainly looks like one, with the unwarranted "lucky bamboo" picture there. The Pokémon in the background also make the layout busy and difficult to read. Also, the inconsistent colours across different pages don't help your layout at all. In the short term, you need to rectify this and make the background for your text a solid colour. In the medium term, you need to learn HTML and CSS to build your own layout unique to your site.

    Atmosphere
There are several spelling mistakes on the site which detract from the atmosphere. While I did catch the humour in "My name is Hazzamon but you can cause me Haz and I'm the big boss here at PokemonAustralia101 (Or PA101 for short). But seeing as I'm the only one running the ste, I'm the boss of nobody." This being said, the tone of your writing is largely unoriginal and lacks personality. While you do nothing to actively repel visitors (except perhaps with the spelling errors), you don't foster an atmosphere that really attracts people.

    Uniqueness
It's good to see someone seeing a void and trying to fill it, which is quite rare among the sites here. You have two main problems with this. The first is that your audience will be quite limited and your site will probably continue to be small. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it something that you should be aware of. If you're happy to run a small site, then it works for you. :)

The second problem is that you don't really fulfil its potential in this originality. You say on the main page, "Nintendo announces that Pokemon Rumble (or Melee! Pokemon Scrabble in Japenese) will be released in the US which hopefully means that it'll be released in Australia. :)" OK - well, this is concrete data relating to the US, a totally separate region - you're only linking it to Australia with a hope.

You get bonus points in this category for seeing a void and trying to fill it, but you really need to fill it properly, so Australian fans come to your site, rather than a generic one.

    Informative Content
You lack severely here, in both depth and breadth. Your only real page of content, R/B, is quite superficial, and unfortunately, does not fulfil the Australian purpose of your site. Try to find pages that do - even if it's just a list of humorous observations about how certain features of the Pokémon world seem Australian. But don't waste your time on Gen I games - so few people play them anymore. >:

This is a really pressing issue for you - not only do you need a lot more pages of content, but you need to make them deep and thoughtful.

    Overall

OK, so the scores you got were probably disheartening. But don't fret: many experience very similar problems that you do. Perhaps you did open your site too early, but now it's up to you to make it better. You can easily make the text readable and get rid of the busy background of your layout after reading this post. Your next most pressing issue is getting enough content up so people will come to your site. Then work on improving your layout so it's unique.

I'm no expert on web design or anything of the sort, but the layout is not too good. The background needs to go, it's an eyesore in relation to the rest of the site.

    You want an advice, yeah?
Okay I give you a few:
    - Start to learn HTML/CSS if not already
    - Start to learn something about colors and which colors match and which don't
    - Remove that background
    - Get yourself a new design or even code on yourself as this one sucks
    - Of course present your "news" a bit different then just plain text

So that's all what came to my mind while watching your page.

    Good luck^^

    Webs fails.
Use a different web host like awardspace.
    Use HTML/CSS.
If you don't want to use html/css, use some wysiwyg like dreamweaver or NVU

The page is unreadable. Gimmicks such as transparency are not your friend.
