I will be writing this while playing the game. I know! I know, your character's a boy. But not in my story.

    Prologue

I woke up bright and early in my bedroom this morning. Today I will be getting my starter Pokemon from the lab. But I had better hurry up. I don't want to be late after all.

I quickly turn off my SNES system. I walk over to my PC, and open up the item storage system. After entering my password, I take out my Potion, I had been saving just for this journey. I quickly take a shower and put on my clothes and brush my teeth. I then head downstairs, to eat breakfast.

I set down at the table with a piece of buttered toast, next to my mom. I turn on the TV and watch TV while I'm eating. I saw a movie preview about what was getting ready to come on TV right now,"There's a movie on TV," I told my mom. I stared at the TV with my mom,"Four boys are are walking on railroad tracks. I guess I had better go too."

My mom agreed with me,"Right. All kids leave home someday. It said so on TV. Oh! Prof. Oak next door, is looking for you."

"Why didn't you say so sooner!? I gotta get going. I'm already running late as it is," Quickly I dashed out of my house in a hurry to find the Prof. I knew right where that was as well. It was my rival, Gary's house after all. My rival, Gary has been my rival for years since we were just babies. He's always out doing me in everything I do. For once I'd like to be better then him at something.

I walked to my rival's house and went inside looking for Prof. Oak, expecting to see him here. But all I saw was Gary's sister Daisy. Me, and Gary don't get along, however, I've always been friends with his sister. She's a nice person,"Hi, Kairi!" She greeted me,"Gary is out at grandpa's lab."

"Actually I was looking for your grandpa. Have you seen him?" I asked Daisy.

"Have you checked the Pokemon lab?" She asked me.

"No, I haven't," I said, racing out of her house, heading towards the lab which was actually the big building right in front of her house. I entered the huge lab, walking passed all the workers and looking around the huge building for the Prof. But I only found my rival there,'Great! Just great! He gets here long before I do, getting an early start, already!'

"Yo Kairi! Gramps isn't around," Gary informed me,"I ran here 'cos he said he had a Pokemon for me."

"Where is he?" I asked him.

"How the heck should I know!?" Gary told me.

I sighed. Looked like I wouldn't be getting anything out of Gary. I went and asked, his aides if they had seen him. But all they talked about was how they study Pokemon under Prof. Oak's guildence. I then exited the lab deciding to look elsewhere for Prof. Oak. After hearing someone saw him earlier around Route 1, I decided to look there. But I had to be careful not to enter the tall grass.

I went out to Route 1 at the end of town,"Prof. Oak!" I called out, and not looking where I was going I stepped into the tall grass by mistake.

Just then I heard a voice scream out at me from behind,"Hey! Wait! Don't go out!"

"What!" I screamed as I jumped. I turned around and saw Prof. Oak walking up towards me,"You startled me." I patted my chest, trying to calm down my racing heart.

Once Prof. Oak caught up to me he informed me,"That was close! Wild Pokemon live in tall grass."

"But I was just..." I got ready to say when something very small and yellow tackled me from behind,"What was that!?"

"Pikachu!" The wild Pokemon called out. I turned around and saw a wild Pikachu getting ready to attack. I backed up very slowly.

Prof. Oak pulled something out of his pocket. It was a small red and white round object. A Poke Ball. He pressed a button making it about the size of an orange and threw it at the Pikachu. The Pikachu was sucked up in a bright flash of light. The Poke Ball shook three times before it, stopped, signaling the Pikachu had been caught.

Prof. Oak went over to the Poke Ball and picked it up,"Whew," he sighed, then turned towards me,"A Pokemon can appear anytime in tall grass. You need your own Pokemon, for your protection."

"But I don't have any Pokemon," I sighed.

Prof. Oak thought for a minute. Then remembering something he told me,"I know! Here, come with me."

"Uh...ok," I nodded. We hurried up out of the tall grass before anymore wild Pokemon could attack, and I followed him, back to his lab. Prof. Oak went in first and I followed him in.

I followed him all the way to the back of the lab, where Gary was still waiting. But now he was beyond pissed off,"Gramps! I'm fed up with waiting!"

Prof. Oak sighed,"Gary? Why are you here already? I said for you to come by later."

'WHAT! He wasn't supposed to be here yet?! What a selfish, bastard!' I thought, rolling my eyes, at Gary. He seemed to ignore me.

"Ah, whatever! Just wait there," Prof. Oak sighed. He then turned towards me, telling me,"Look, Kairi! Do you see that ball on the table?"

"Ya, what about it?" I asked him.

"It's called a Poke Ball. It holds a Pokemon inside. You may have it. Go on, take it," Prof. Oak grinned at me.

I was about to go over to it, when Gary screamed out,"Hey! Gramps! What about me?"

"Will you just shut up!?" I screamed, becoming very annoyed.

"Be patient, Gary, I'll give you one later," Prof. Oak promised.

    "Fine!" Gary sighed.

I then walked over to the lone Poke Ball on the table. In bright letters it said,'Eevee' on it. I knew what an Eevee was of course,"Cool! An Eevee! I've always wanted one!" I squalled in an excited tone.

I was about to take it when Gary suddenly walked over to me, pushing me out of the way and grabbing the Poke Ball,"Hey!" I screamed out.

"No way! Kairi, I want this Pokemon," Gary said, taking the ball away.

"Oh, no you don't!" I screamed.

"Gary! What are you doing?" Prof. Oak, asked his grandson.

"Gramps, I want this one!" Gary told him.

I growled in anger. I knew Gary only did it, cause he knew how much I loved Eevee. I even used to have a pet Eevee, but it got run over by a car. Gary was always taking things, he knew I wanted. That was just the way he was.

"But I...Oh, all right then. That Pokemon is yours. I was going to give you one anyway," Prof. Oak gave in.

"What! But...don't I get a Pokemon as well?" I asked. Tears started forming in my eyes.

"Kairi, come over here," Prof. Oak called me over.

I dried my eyes,"What?" I asked, walking over towards him.

He took a Poke Ball out of his pocket and handed it to me,"Kairi, this is the Pokemon I caught earlier," he informed me.

I took the Poke Ball in my hand,"The Pikachu?" I asked.

"You can have it," Prof. Oak grinned at me,"I caught it in the wild and it's not tame yet."

"Oh thank you! Thank you so, much!" I grinned, pocketing the Pikachu's Poke Ball.

"If a wild Pokemon appears, your Pokemon can fight against it," Prof. Oak told me.

"Thanks for the tip," I said.

"Afterward, go to the next town," he said.

I nodded my thanks and was just about to leave when Gary called out,"Wait Kairi! Let's check out our Pokemon! Come on, I'll take you on!" He walked over towards me.

"Fine!" I said. Maybe this would teach him for taking Eevee away. I followed him to the battlefield, to start the match. Prof. Oak hung back to watch the battle.

"Go Eevee!" Gary called throwing a Poke Ball. Out popped a small brown fox like Pokemon, with white fluff going around it's neck.

"Veee!" Eevee called out it's battle cry.

    "Go Pikachu!" I cried.

"Pika!" Pikachu cried appearing from it's Poke Ball.

"Pikachu! Use Thunder Shock!" I called out my first order. Pikachu built up electric power in it's two cheeks, on it's face, and let the electricity fly towards the Eevee. The attack hit, doing little damage.

    "Eevee, Tackle attack!" Gary ordered.

"Veee!" Eevee ran towards Pikachu and hit, it sending Pikachu back a few feet, doing more damage then it had done.

"Pikachu!" I cried,"Fight back with Growl attack!" I was hoping to lower the Eevee's attack where it wouldn't hurt Pikachu as badly.

"Pikaaa!" Pikachu angrily Growled at the Eevee, lowering it's attack power.

"Eevee, another Tackle attack," Gary called.

"NO!" I screamed as the attack hit Pikachu, giving it very little HP left. I pulled out my Potion from my bag,"Glad I remembered to get this," I sighed, straying the stuff onto Pikachu. But as I did so, Gary called out for a Tail Whip attack. Luckily Eevee missed.

"Ha! Use another Thunder Shock!" I ordered. Pikachu shot more electricity at the Eevee, cutting it's HP down by half. Gary then ordered Tackle attack again and I another Thunder Shock attack. Well, both Pokemon were only at level 5, so they didn't know too many moves yet.

Suddenly I was now winning. But Gary called out for Tail Whip. This time it didn't miss, lowering Pikachu's defenses,"Ha! A wasted turn!" I smirked, noticing the Eevee had very little HP left. Deciding to finish it off, I called for one more final Thunder Shock. That did it! The Eevee fainted and I won the battle.

"Yes!" I cheered. Pikachu gained 97 EXP. points and grew to level 6 and learnt Tail Whip.

Pouting Gary returned Eevee,"WHAT! Unbelievable! I picked the wrong Pokemon!" He complained, as he paid me P175 for winning.

"Ah suck it! I won fair and square!" I told Gary, taking my winnings and putting it in my wallet.

"Okay!" Gary sighed, actually agreeing with me for once,"I'll make my Pokemon fight to toughen it up! Kairi! Gramps! Smell you later!" He then turned and left the lab.

I was about to leave as well, when I heard a noise behind me,"Pika!"

"What?" Prof. Oak was confused as Pikachu popped out of it's Poke Ball on it's own,"Would you look at that!"

I turned around,"Pikachu! What are you doing outside your Poke Ball?" I asked it. Pikachu just sighed, turning it's head to the side, not answering me.

"It's odd, but it appears that your Pikachu dislikes Poke Balls. You should just keep it with you. That should make it happy! You can talk to it and see how it feels about you," Professor Oak suggested.

I turned to Pikachu,"Glad you meet you Pikachu. I'm Kairi. I think were gonna be great friends. What do you think?"

"Pikaaa," Pikachu sighed with it's eyes closed, ignoring me like it found me boring.

'Just great! Pikachu hates me!' I thought. It looked like this was gonna be a long journey. I stopped by my house to pack a few things, then said bye to my mom and me and Pikachu headed out to Route 1, to start our long journey ahead of us.
