Mysterious Vaporeon (fake?)

    I need help to shed some light on a Vaporeon card that I got. It is the 12/64 holographic version and should therefore be a part of the Jungle expansion right? Only it isn't...

    Instead of the Jungle symbol it has a Base Set 2 symbol which is weird since Vaporeon was one the cards that were not included in that set. In addition it doesn't have the "starry" bright holo, it's rather "blocky" and much darker. Lastly some of the fonts are thinner than the "regular" version.

    Could the card be fake? The text at the bottom seems legit but there is just so much else that is shady about it.

    I have searched around for an answer to this mystery but without success.

    I saw your image of it on the 'gym, and I'm certain it's fake. First off, you're right that vaporeon was not printed in base set 2. Second, the font is totally irregular from normal cards, which is usually a good indicator. There are also some very minor punctuation errors that don't appear in the jungle version, which wouldn't have happened in a reprint seeing as (I assume) they would have just used the original jungle card with a different set stamp. It's a pretty decent fake, but still definitely fake.
