So, I wanted to ask that is there a way you can use hold item?
Yes I'm a n00b in it but yeah, only way I found to use an item is to go to menu - item - and use the item.
But what's the point of holding item then?

Saving space in your toolbox, that's a point, but I'm not sure either, and I have a darn decent save file.

Sometimes your team mates will throw berries at you.

As you get farther into the game, you will find hold items. Defense scarfs, zinc scarfs, pecha scarfs, joy ribbon, etc. Also, if your partner holds an item like oran berry and has the ability in its IQ, it will eat it before it dies.

Yeah, basicly... it is for the hold items, things like friend ribbon (That is awsome) and parters can eat the berries, and if you are dieing, your partner might throw the berry at you. AND you parter can throw gravelstones, iron thorn, silver spike, you get the idea.
