Mystland: The Lost Guardian
Rated T
Story
It was never meant to be discovered. A single survivor in a plane crash was all it took. Now Mystland is being overrun by mad scientists who want nothing more than to use the inhabitants for their own gain. But they've gone to far and now the island is dying. It won't be long before it plummets to the ocean floor thousands of feet below. When that happens, it's all over. The myths of today truly will be nothing more than myths.
Many of the inhabitants still have hope though. They believe the Guardian of Mystland will return to save them. Return from where, you may ask? No one knows. Not a trace of it has been found since the scientists came. The inhabitants believe his disappearance is connected to the dying island.
Plot
Over the course of the past 10 years, children have been disappearing from all over the world. No one knows what happens to them, only that they are never heard from again. The culprits? Scientists. They abduct young children right from under their parents' noses and whisk them away to their laboratory on Mystland. Here they are experimented on and turned into living weapons by using the DNA of the island's inhabitants to replicate their powers. The plan was to build an army of them to self off to the highest bidder, but first they had to find a way to control their test subjects.
Unfortunately, or fortunately if you're looking at it from the test subjects' point of view, they escaped and disappeared into the surrounding areas, blending in quite well with the inhabitants of the island.
Where You Come In
You are one of the test subjects who has recently escaped from the laboratory. You start out with only one goal: don't get caught. However, this changes when you hear about how Mystland is dying and that the only way to save it is to find the Guardian of Mystland. Whether grudgingly or willingly, you decide to search for the Guardian, even if it's just to get back at the scientists for taking away your life.
You may have once been human, but you're not anymore; or at least, not completely.
Mystland
Mystland is a somewhat large island floating in whirlpool a couple thousand feet beneath the Pacific Ocean. How the rivers are fed is a mystery even to the inhabitants. It is hidden from view by a veil of water that doesn't allow any on the outside to see in but allows the inhabitants to see out as if there was nothing there at all. There is a large assortment of creatures living on Mystland, some heard of only in myths, some never heard of at all.
Some of the Inhabitants
There are many more creatures that inhabit Mystland, but these are some of the most common.
Map
Coconut Grove
A string of coconut trees lining the edge of the Weeping Forest by the Shardike-eater Beach.
Crevasse Lake
A large lake that is over a mile deep. The first 500 feet is warm water, but only a hundred feet further and the water is completely frozen except for a large crevasse in the ice right in the middle of the lake.
Guardian's Grove
The deepest part of the Weeping Forest that is said to be the home of Mystland's guardian.
Fallover Sea
The water from this sea pours over the edge of Mystland. If you aren't careful you'll get swept over.
Fogbend Mountains
These mountains are full of twists and turns and are constantly cloaked in a thick fog.
Laboratory
The laboratory where the test subjects escaped from.
Pireel River
The smaller of Mystland's two rivers. It is infested with Pireel.
Shardike Bay
An area of calm water where creatures that live in Fallover Sea can rest without risk of being swept over the edge of Mystland. It is mostly populated by shardike.
Shardike-eater Beach
The only beach of Mystland that is the home to the mysterious shardike-eater.
Sifter River
The longer of Mystland's two rivers. Its currents are constantly changing. Where one spot could be perfectly calm one moment, the next it could be raging rapids.
The Veil
A thin layer of water over Mystland that hides it from any above it but still allows the inhabitants of Mystland to see out at the sky.
Weeping Forest
The forest covering much of Mystland. If the weather is hot enough, certain trees perspire a sweet liquid which trickles down their trunks like tears.
Whirlpool Chasm
The whirlpool within which is Mystland floats. The waters swirl away into a dark chasm.

Spoiler:
Werewolves
These are not typical werewolves you hear about in stories. They transform fully into wolves and it isn't uncommon for them to have some sort of power as well. The full moon has no effect on them and they can transform whenver they please. Silver isn't any more harmful to them than it would be on a human.
Vampires
Again, not the typical vampires you hear about in stories. They are not immortal, though they do live longer than humans, and their bite does not turn their victim into a vampire. Garlic, sunlight, etc. does not affect them, though they do prefer to stay out of the sun because of their pale white skin. Their hair is also usually pale gray. They have incredible speed and strength. When they are angered their eyes turn red.
Dolwark
They are very large and have dolphin-like snouts and bodies, but they have a shark's teeth. Their dorsal fin is made up of three sharp ridges, the first one longer then the others. Their tail looks almost like a goldfish's. When they are swimming, their tail is folded in. When they are flying, it unfolds so it's horizontal rather than vertical so they can catch air current more easily. Their are very large and wing-like so they can fly. Their skin is smooth and blue-gray. They have both gills and a breathing hole so they can breath in and out of water.
Shardikes
They are about 4 feet long when full grown. They range from gray, to brown, to green. Their snouts are long, thin, and full of sharp teeth. The rest of their body looks like a shark's.
Pireel
They have long, eel-like bodies and even swim like them. If something edible is in the water nearby, they swarm it like piranha's. Not even the bones of the creature are left untouched.
Shardike-eater
Not even the inhabitants know what this creature looks like. All they know is that it has a tast for shardike and lives somewhere on the Shardike-eater Beach.

Thound
The are small, wolf-like canines about 1 foot tall at the shoulders. Their fur is yellow and they have pale blue tiger stripes. They can generate electricity and use it both to protect themselves and to hunt. Thunder is attracted to them so when there is a storm they are rarely seen out in the open. If they collect to much electricity within their bodies it can paralyze them for life or even kill them.
Shion
At first glance they appear to be nothing more than a rare white lion, but upon closer inspection the differences are obvious. Their tale is a bright yellow and their eyes are always either red or yellow. The fur surrounding their eyes is a pale, barely noticeable blue at birth, but as they age it gets darker until it is almost black. The males have splendid white manes with a few hairs mixed in.
Caterwauler
The vocabulary of these creatures is solely made up of loud caterwauls with growls and hisses mixed. They rarely bother to learn any actual words and the few that have know very few words and speak with great difficulty. They are about 5 and a half feet tall when they stand straight. They are humanoid only in shape. Their feet and hands have pads like a cat's. They have long, sharp claws in the place of nails. Their faces are shaped like a cats, but their mouths are much larger like a cheschire cat's. They have long cat ears with black tufts on the tips. They have short, bristly brown fur covering their entire body but have no tail. Their thin build gives them a frail appearance but they are really quite strong. They are incredibly lithe, with their legs being especially long and well muscled. They don't stand often, but rather move in a crouched position, using their long legs to propel them forward to great lengths.
