Aaaah, I thought that place only got that feature after it switched over to 4, though I'm very likely remembering wrong, I don't use Bulbagarden much.

I mean, if PC could do that and switch up the rules a bit to suit it, it would take some workload off the admins.
 
We've considered it @ the automated system, but I'm pretty adamantly against it. It's lacking in flexibility and means that no-one can take old usernames (including those of your own alt accounts). I don't think it's worth using an automated system at the expense of probably tens of thousands of dead usernames. We could probably make something better ourselves, but it's just a pain with all the things that are already planned out and especially so when there's an admin willing to do it manually.
 
I voted for 4 months because things look fine the way they are now honestly, but I'm fine with either (it's not like name changes are anything big).
