Actually, your mum has the right idea. Cats and Dogs respond better to two syllable names, or words that end in the long e sound. For example Shelby.

Actually, yes they do. I read in a book, that cats do respond to humans, and names, and all sorts of things.

Well, most cats respond to things. Others choose not to.

i've already told my sisters that they're opinions suck, and i call her cat until i come up with a better thing to call her.
sometimes i call her lucy (not lucky) short for lucifer, because lately she's been sick and makes terrible noises
