Is there any competitive format where
    Only Level-Up Moves are allowed?
,so no egg moves, tutor, tms, event moves, tradebacks, etc.

Starting from Gen 1 RBY Natural Anything Goes,
    Rules:
    1. Species Clause: no 2 pokemon can share same national dex number.
    2. 50-move rule: Draw if no pokemon faints in 50 moves.
    3. Only level up moves are allowed, including pre-evolution's. Trading between Red and Yellow is allowed, but not with other generations.

    Important moves' distribution:
Earthquake: Only Dugtrio & Golem lines.
BodySlam: Only Nidoqueen, Wigglytuff, Poliwrath, Jynx, Lapras & Snorlax.
HyperBeam: Only Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Snorlax & Dragonite.
    Thunderbolt: Only Raichu...
Psychic: Venomoth, Alakazam, Slowbro, Hypno, Mewtwo, Mew.
Blizzard: Jynx + Articuno. Ice Beam: Dewgong, Lapras, Articuno.
RazorLeaf: Venusar + Victreebel (no change).
    Explosion/Self-Destruct: Golem, Electrode, Weezing.
    Surf/MegaDrain/RockSlide/FireBlast: Does Not Exist.

Hmm, I wonder what tauros gets.

    HP restoring moves:

    1. Softboiled/MegaDrain: None. (Chansey did require tm to learn it)
    2. Recover: Mewtwo, Alakazam, Starmie, Porygon.
    3. Rest: Snorlax, Dewgong, Wigglytuff.
    4. Leech Seed(1/16 per turn): Exeggutor, Venusaur.
    5. Absorb: Vileplume, Kabutops, Tangela.

Have you tried building a team in this format? My intuition says that for RBY it would be restrictive to the point of being unfun, but I could be convinced otherwise. Later generations with expanded learnsets are probably much more reasonable.

This could be quite interesting, Id love to try this in multiple generations! May make some underused pokemon viable and some big threats unviable
