Eruption depends on ur HP, and typhlosion's defenses are not that great >.>

The max base power of Eruption is 150 (equal to that of Hyper Beam, so you get an idea how powerful it can be), though, that's only when a Pokemon has lost no HP. The less HP you have, the weaker it gets. Flamethrower is the better choice, especially when Jolteons, Starmies, and so on outspeed you.
