NOTE: This is a team for emerald not D/P emerald.

Okay, I have almost no experience in team making or what in the hells name a sweeper or tank or any of that is. I'm also horrible at movesets. I want to go to Battle frontier with an awesome team, so can someone suggest a good 3 pokemon team or a 6 pokemon team for me?

This Stickied Thread is where these kinds of posts should go, you don't need to make a whole new thread. I'll explain the Pokemon Roles for ya.

Physical Sweeper - A pokemon with a good Attack stat and a physical Attack movepool. It needs good Speed stats too. WEAVILE is a good example for a physical sweeper. its Attack and Speed stat is enormously high. A Physical Sweeper's goal is to take out as many pokemon as possible with full power attacks.

Special Sweeper - Its the exact same thing as a physical Sweeper except it utilizes its Special Attack stat and needs a big Special attack movepool. Also a good speed stat. GENGAR is a good example of a special sweeper since its Special Attack and Speed stat is high and can take out a fair amount of pokemon.

Physical Wall - Sometimes called a Physical Sponge. A Physical wall needs to be able to wall physical attacks very well. It needs to withstand a large amount of attacks thrown at it. A Physical Wall needs a good Defense stat. A good HP stat is also needed. A good example of a physical wall is STEELIX because its defense stat is enormously high and is able to take a large amount of Physical Attacks and survive

Special Wall - Also called the Special Sponge. Its the same as the Physical Wall but it withstands more Special Attacks. It needs a good Special Defense and HP stat to be effective. A good example of a Special Wall is BLISSEY because its HP stat is outrageously high and its Special Defense is skyrocketing.

Tank - A pokemon that can withstand a fair amount of attacks while still being able to inflict damage. It usually doesn't carry a good Speed Stat (though it would be nice). A tank pokemon carries a good HP Stat, a Good Attack Stat / Special Attack Stat, and a good Defense / Special Defense stat.

Spikespinner - A Pokemon that can set up Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, or have access to Rapid Spin.

Baton Passer - A pokemon with a wide range of stat boosting moves (including Sub, Mean Look, Swords Dance, etc.) and have access to Baton Pass.

Cleric - a Pokemon with access to Heal Bell or Aromatherapy.

Hazer / PHazer - A pokemon that has access to Haze, or a PseudoHaze(PHaze) move like Confuse Ray, Leech Seed, Whirlwind, etc.

there are only (I think) 2 spikespinners in the game. Just separate the 2...and it's 3rd gen, eh? for the record, confuse ray and leech seed aren't PHazing moves, since I stay in with leech seed all the time, as my sweepers are powerful enough that the HP drain doesn't hurt...just to point that out...

In ADV, pokemon like boah, CBmence, CBcross, skarmbliss (a combo)...all were very common and terrorized many pokemon in the metagame.

Thanks for that Azonic, can someone give me a suggestion for a team W/ moveset and nature? I'm not so good W/ this, but I have almost all of the pokemon in the game.

torkoal can spike SR spin. does that count?

Yes, it does count. Really any pokemon that can use Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, or Spikes is considered a Spikespinner.

Yet SR isn't in ADV :/

Here, I can get your started with the best trio in Netbattle. Just ask richard steel...

    Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers ** Ironwing
    Trait: Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 Def
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Drill Peck
    - Rest
    - Roar
    - Spikes

    Blissey (F) @ Leftovers ** Blisspuff
    Trait: Natural Cure
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Aromatherapy
    - Ice Beam
    - Seismic Toss
    - Softboiled

skarmbliss. To truly complete the trio, there is one pokemon you can add to allow yourself to wall all attacks...

Claydol @ Leftovers ** The Staple
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 236 HP / 136 Atk / 108 Def / 30 SDef
    Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
    - Earthquake
    - Psychic / Ice Beam
    - Rest / Explosion
    - Rapid Spin

FTW...Psychic is for nasty heracross and gengar switch-ins. ice beam lols at the dragons.

Awesome team anti-pop! ANyone else got anything?

That's only half. If you use skarmblissdol, after you reveal the fact you use skarmbliss, it's a good idea to send in claydol, as it beats most skarmbliss counters, like Mence if you have ice beam. Now you need some attacking power.

    Heracross @ Choice Band
    Trait: Guts
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    Adamant / Jolly Nature
    - Megahorn
    - Focus Punch / Brick Break
    - Sleep Talk
    - Hidden Power [Rock] / Rock Slide

CBcross is a great physical sweeper. You can switch into spore from breloom and unleash guts powered, CBed, possibly STABed off a pokemon with amazing attack and WHAM.
