    I need a game idea for a original mmorpg/orpg >.<
I want something like a strategy game or a pirate game, maybe a card game but I'm unsure how the gameplay and interface should be, etc.
What would you want to see in the perfect 2D mmorpg? What would you want to be able to do? How would you like to do those thing? How should you interact with other players?
Post all things you can come up with (and more :P), please.

Like most people here I believe you should come up with your own original Ideas. Why would someone want to come up with an Original Idea and pass it on to someone else and not use it themselves. The only help I can offer is to ask yourself these questions and come with your own original ideas.

Although many people here may not always share, it is not from not wanting to share. The simple fact is that original ideas are very hard to come by. That's why so many fangames are based on previously made games, as well as the reason why there are so many sequels in games, television, movies, and books.

My suggestion is that you come up with the main idea of the game first, then work on the details. Some people like card games, some people like platformers, some like racing games, and others like first-person shooters. Not all of these can easily be done in a 2D environment, but others, like platformers, are almost exclusively in 2D. (Nintendo recently released a Mario plaformer that shifts from 2D to 3D, which I believe is the first of its kind) Sometimes, you see a mix of systems, like Baten Kaitos, which is both a card game and an RPG. (It has a card-based attack and defense system, which is rather unique) I would personally like to see another Yu-Gi-Oh! game, but as the official games prove, it is extremely difficult to program the card rules, and even more difficult to make effective AI. (For example, Yu-Gi-Oh! game AI systems have no concept of effect damage. You can make it so that every time they attack, they lose life points, and they will attack until they lose. It's very fun, yet somewhat pathetic)

    Thanks, Glitchfinder.
The title should be changed to "gamleplay idea" >.<
